A grown up hero.

I just heard that Retired Colonel Bill Badger was one of the two people who subdued the shooter in Arizona.

This 74 year old man, just interviewed on Fox, said that he dropped to the ground after being shot in the back of the head and the shooter paused next to him to reload his gun. Another person shoved him to the ground and the Colonel reached out and twisted his left arm and the other person got the other arm and one put a knee in his back and the other to his neck.

Fox asked something about ...here you are 74 years old....how did you do that? And the man answered, "It had to be done."

Colonel Bill was not injured severely, thank Heavens and he is added to my hero list.

Funny how you keep doing what you know to do is right...even though you are 74. Being 74 is no big deal. Thinking quickly and acting fast is.

Thank you Colonel Bill. You probably saved a lot more lives.

This morning I added yet another senior to my list of people I look up to.
Patricia Maisch who somehow got the magazine and sit on the shooters ankles to restrain him.

She did this after the woman standing next to her was shot three times and I think I heard that woman who was shot was trying to protect her daughter.

People, most of them, are brave and kind and many are heros hidden from plain sight.

These people make me continue to believe in our reason to be.

Gracie, you, as susual, are on the target. This is the essence of the aftermath, not the other thread on this forum with this subject. I might also add the intern of the congresswoman, a 20 year old, whose name excapes me, that accompanied her to the hospital in the ambulance. His act of keeping her up-right to avoid strangling on her own blood immediately after the shot and applying pressure must have been instrumental in her being able to be responsive to the medical staff and allowing them to accomplish what they did. He was very modest in interviews I have seen, but his actions were the first of a chain of actions that are responsible for the optimisim that exists 48 hours later. God bless those affected and the care givers as well.
