In Boise, Idaho, there were several shops where you could bath and groom your dog. The shop provided all shampoo, conditioner, equipment, and had industrial strength blowers. One hour there and we had stripped the shedding fur out of our corgi's coat when he was blowing it.

Is there any similar shop near The Villages? Our corgi is blowing his coat, and we're desperate!

And yes, they're great small businesses. The one we particularly like also hires differently-abled (mentally handicapped, cerebral palsy, etc.) workers who interact particularly well with both the pet owners and the pets.

There is a tub at Doggie Doo Run Run (DDRR) which is a private dog park about 1 mile north of Southern Trace Shopping Center. It is off of CR101 near the intersection of CR104 and CR101.

I wash my dog in that tub when he gets too dirty for my car from running around at Doggie Doo Run Run. You can bring your own shampoo.

I saw a corgi there a few days ago going there for the first time.

They do have a lady who comes every three weeks who cuts dogs' nails and fixes their anal glands. I have also seen her grooming dogs on other days but have no more information about that. She is named Pat.

We use a shop like this in NY during the winter for our shepherd mix. She's very bashful so it's less stressful for her, and us, to take care of her ourselves. The little shih-tzu goes to a groomer year round. I'm too chicken to try to clip her myself. I could make a real mess of her.

I used this type of place in Los Angeles and hadn't seen one here until the other day. It is not in the Villages, unfortunately, but its closer than Apopka & Tampa. Its up on 301, north of 42, I think the town is Summerfield and its across from the postoffice, next door to a small grocery store. I don't know how good it is, but if I'm up that way again very soon, I'll drop by and will report what I find. I love this kind of facility, its inexpensive, efficient and less stress on the animals.

I just called Affordable Doggie Laundry in Summerfield. It's not a DIY place; they groom the dogs.

That's a good tip. It's the industrial-strength blowers and the other grooming equipment are what we're really looking for, though. One hour & the shedding fur is entirely stripped -- very sweet!
