I posted a business startup question this morning and it appears that I may not be able to start a business (but I'll continue the research).
So... I know that this may be contrary to conventional thinking at TV but I would like to work on a limited basis. I’m young and healthy and although I’m looking forward to playing golf every day, I’d still like to find part time employment.
Are there opportunities for senior employment?

Lots of opportunities for employment here.

Agree, plenty of employment. Several of our neighbors have PT jobs and we are all new residents

Depends on the line of work you'd anticipating. Plenty of minimum wage type jobs, it seems. There are a few who frequent TOTV who are in the medical field and are finding employment locally. Plenty of service-related fields (given the population base in TV and surrounding areas) if you're still considering starting your own business.

hand experience with what goes on in TV. There are deed restrictions and there is reality.
There are a lot of home businesses here in TV that would not be if the strict letter of the deed restriction was applied.
Common sense is the main catalyst for the reality check.

Yeah, I was wondering how strict they were. My business would consist of a ½ ton pickup truck...period, no equipment or supplies on the property.

The employment opportunities are rare here. The Villages has a web site with jobs. I've applied for several. I eventually got a job working for The Villages Golf Cart store. The supervisor who interv iewed me said she got 85 applications for this one PT job w/ minimum wage. My husband has worked for TV at one of the rec centers for 2 years and he's now up to $7.95 an hour! Plus Marion County has a 14% unemployment rate. Good Luck.

If you're thinking of a "handyman" type of business, you should be very successful. People are always moving in, moving around, and changing their houses. A good handyman can stay as busy as he/she wants.
