I’ve noticed that the rear tires on my Yamaha gas cart have worn down faster than the front tires. Does anyone rotate their tires? Also, who have you purchased new tires from?

I rotate my own, but I would suggest that you check your tire pressure, Yamaha suggests 22 PSI.

I forgot to add most of the mobile golf cart services can do this and some carry tires also. I have used Willie's and Todd Casey.

Yes. I noticed the same thing. First time I did it myself - PIA, the second time I asked to have it done when it was in for some service. Haven't had it long enough to need to buy new ones.

"The Tire Guy" TheTireGuy352@gmail.com.
He comes to the house and sells tires as well as maintenance and repairs. I have the model with the built-in inward camber factory setting, which really wears the front tires quickly.
He can't change that factory setting but will check the toe settings. He has good advice for how to maximize tire life of those carts with this camber setting. I won't go into the details because I'm not that good of a mechanic. Ask the expert.
I asked about the aftermarket shocks that you can buy to compensate for the camber, and he said that they MIGHT help, but also make the suspension stiffer.
Good Luck

Might want to mention what type/size tires, tire pressure, and whether have independent suspension? All have factor in tire wear.

Is that for 8” or 10 “ tires?

That's true. However, I have picked up a lot of valuable information on TOTV from people who have expanded their reply to include other associated information. Just trying to be helpful with things I have learned. You might have missed that I started by answering the second question.

We got our last set of tires at Tire Choice at Colony Plaza. Our 2-seat gas Yamaha cart uses the ubiquitous 10” Loadstar tires and they apparently keep them in stock and had a good price on them. It was about 1 hour for the install. I rotate my tires every 6000 miles and keep them inflated to 26-28 PSI and that results in even wear. We replaced all four tires at 25K miles when one tire suffered a non-repairable slash otherwise they would have probably gone 30K miles.

Just got some from Jared at Village Kart Aid. Very happy with service and price.

We had the Tire Guy put 2 new tires on the back of our 2018 Yamaha. He said backs wearing out faster is normal due to more weight in the rear.
He said to rotate them. He's a great guy, good service and fair pricing.

That’s why you have to adjust tire pressure vs weight.

On my cart, a 2021 Yamaha 2-seater, I noticed the front tires wearing faster than the rears (simple depth gauge measurement). I rotated the tires myself, and it is an easy job...about 45 minutes.

Since it is only the front tires that turn when driving a cart, whereas the back tires just follow in the front tires track, you would think the front tires would wear much faster due to the friction involved and making a turn.

On the newer Yamahas, as already pointed out, there can be what appears to be some significant negative camber, which may lead to increased wear on the inside of the front tires. The toe adjustment can also be off.

Tire pressure should be the problem.

Just curious, when rotating tires on a golf cart do you do the cross over pattern or just front to back on the same side?

For the Loadstars, they are non-directional tires so I bring the fronts straight back and cross the rears over to front. If you have directional tires (and I don’t know if there is such a thing for golf cart tires), you would rotate back to front on the same side (unless you wanted to remount the tires).

We have used Willies, but they NO LONGER do tires, but great for all others. We have a Yamaha.
We used Andy Robinson "The Tire Guy" yesterday for a replacement tire and he also rotated them, did all air and ckd tires - he also replaced a stem he found out of place all for the same service fee. Mobile and he was great!
He also told us that the tires will look like full, but they need to be ckecked as well because they will not show they need air.

I have a Yamaha 2012 Electric YRDE. It has eight inch tires. First thing I did was buy a spare, I believe I got it on Amazon. If I had a flat, my wife would drive it up to me. Also, when one of the tires starts wearing, I replace it with the spare. When another tire starts to wear down to a thread, I take both of them to Wildwood Tire Company and have them replaced for $97 each. I've had the cart for seven years and this system seems to work. If things go sideways, then I call in The Tire Guy.

You should be able to 8” pull off tires cheap including rims cause most want 10”. I’ve seen set of 4 on rims for price of your one new tire.

With proper care 20k miles plus is not an issue, with no need to rotate. If you have tires wearing it will be obvious what the issue is.

You are paying too much for the 10-inch Loadstar tires. The Villages Golf Cars stores install those tires for $80 per tires total. Just had ours done. Best price in TV
