In the past there have been various articles that referred to an individual who had appeared (as a child) int he film Gone with the Wind. Also a reference once to someone who had been involved in the development of "Tupperware". Then there was the "rumor" that the in-laws of radio/TV personality Sean Hannity (his ex-wife's parents ?) once lived here. My guess would be most people of means and notoriety would chose upscale communities that offer very tight security and, of course, come with significant expense (like private streets and roads, calls to residents who must give consent for all visitors, etc.). Just a guess ! Long ago Nancy Lopez was a frequent visitor when the rights to her name were used and it was generally know that she had been gifted a home here which she used during those visits. Arnold Palmer also made appearances when he was compensated for the use of his name/endorsement, but did not live here of course.

Nancy Lopez owned a home here on her golf course. Harold Schwartz, founding developer, actually lived in The Villages. I’m sure there are other noteworthy persons who lived or currently live in The Villages and may like their privacy. I have met some very interesting people here in my eighteen years of owning property in The Villages.

There is a woman who played a minor role in the 1982 "Wrath of Khan" Star Trek movie. The Sun did a story about her about a year ago.
Not living in the Villages (I don't think) but Megan Boone, who was the lead actress on the Blacklist TV show is the granddaughter of Gary Morse. Per Wikipedia:
Boone was born in Petoskey, Michigan and raised in The Villages, Florida. Her parents relocated there when she was a child to be closer to her grandparents.[3] Her grandfather, billionaire H. Gary Morse, was the developer of The Villages; her mother, Jennifer Parr, is the Director of Sales.[4] [5]
So there's that.

The old " I read somewhere "... LOL, LOL ! We had an old family friend we grew up with down in south Florida. Great guy, but with a penchant for being THE person with "the latest" on any subject. It got to be a joke among family and his friends that he'd begin every sentence with " a fella told me......" Finally, with a smile and without being seriously argumentative, some family members started replying : "uncle Russ, exactly what "fella" told you that ?" He never could remember specifically, but his usual reply was "can't remember exactly, was one of the fellas at the barber shop".... but we loved him and forgave his need for attention !

Every nurse, firefighter, law officer, doctor, teacher. Every human who shows kindness to animals and others. Those are the people who are held in high esteem in my world. We put too much glory on sports and Hollywood. The average humans are the real heros. The Veterans who hold our Flag high. The Special ed aide who holds the hand of the person who is disabled. The janitor who cleans up the mess the " entitled " leave behind. We are all famous,we are all special. We survive and even enjoy daily life.

When I worked at a boys summer camp in the early 70s, I arrived early and went up to the nature building to start cleaning up. When I entered, the camp director was there with Jack Klugman and his son. Having no idea who he was, I smiled and shook his hand. Later, when I went down to dinner, everyone was talking about him being at camp. I am just thankful that I was clueless and didn’t make a fool of myself!

I know some of the posters over the almost 17 years I have been on Talk of the Villages think I am a legend in my own mind.
I started on Talk of the Villages in July 2007 after Talk Host gave a speech at a Villages Computer Club meeting. They also had a lottery going with the club.
I had been looking for some way to communicate my interests after an incredibly persistent and creative troll made my experiences on Findlaw miserable.
I have met some of the fellow posters over the years especially at the old Crispers Friday at 3 PM meetings.
One of two of them had connections to famous people.
I did talk a little bit a few weeks ago to a woman whose son won a Silver Medal in the last Winter Olympics. His grandmother was a great neighbor here in the Villages.

Gary Corsair wrote an article about me back in 2007 or so for The Villages Daily Sun. It was about my efforts to get the Florida Victim Services Directory linked to Villages' area library webpages. Part of my 224 613 Project that I had been working on since mid-1991 but had not acquired those two numbers until late 1992.
Gary Corsair lived near the Villages and wrote a few books. One of these is about the Groveland Four. The other is about history of high school basketball in this area of Florida.

I met a number of people with connections to the rich and famous at that dog park like a man who worked high up in a certain house, a man whose daughter is listed rather prominently in credits for Saving Private Ryan, a NYC retired labor lawyer, a retired DC patent lawyer, etc.

My husband Craig Littler was in front of the camera for 5 decades in Hollywood. He's done over 320 national commercials (Grey Poupon for 13 years...for one), TV shows, movies and singer/dancer in musical comedy theater. Ted Danson's "Sam Malone" in Cheers, was loosely based on Sudden Sam McDowell's life. He developed a Retirement Community in Florida, some years back. I did hear he now lives in TV. He had one of the highest Strike Out rates in baseball history.
Stewart Cink’s parents live here.
They have a lovely home, right on the Mallory Golf Course (I don't want to say where). Mrs. Cink often post in TV Groups on FaceBook. Stewart is a great golfer and sometimes plays TV courses when he visits.

Many people live here who were very powerful in business and well known in medicine. I know personally of three billionaires who live here. Connections abound everywhere here to folks in politics and many retired CEO's are here of huge companies. . The first female navigator in the Air Force is a resident. The largest employer in Saskatchewan is a resident here during the high season. The parents of the person in charge of the New York Stock Exchange live here. Lots of very interesting folks live here and I never cease being surprised and delighted about the lives lived before they joined us.

My parents had a VHS tape of The Villages from when they visited here in the 1980s. I still have the tape, it featured Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous host Robin Leach, the British guy. So Robin Leach literally came here to show the world how the Rich and Famous live.

My husband Craig Littler was in front of the camera for 5 decades in Hollywood. He's done over 320 national commercials (Grey Poupon for 13 years...for one), TV shows, movies and singer/dancer in musical comedy theater. You can look him up on IMDB and some of the work he's done is listed there (it doesn't list all of the commercials).
Jason of Star Command??? That's awesome.

Not looking for joke answers. A serious question.
Harold Swartz took arid Central Florida and with GOLF as the anchor developed a middle class affordable neighborhood. Now a winter home is available to the masses.

I do recall a certain Falling actor's parents lived here but that was quite a while ago that The Villages Daily Sun had an article about them.

When I lived in LA it was common to run into famous people. Everyone pretty much left them alone. I worked for the studios and every once in awhile I would run into someone and do the foolish star struck thing.

I play golf with the guy who invented the "Flat Ball" golf swing aid, that you can buy a Walmart!
I also shook Johnnie Weissmuller's hand at a car dealership in Wichita when I was a kid. And I said "Hi" to Clint Eastwood at a hardware store in Carmel, California once. I also rode in a biplane piloted by Col. Joe Kittinger once. If you don't recognize the name, he was an early astronaut. To this day, he holds the record for high-altitude parachute jump, and is the only man to ever exceed the sound barrier without the benefit of an airplane.
But I wouldn't say I'm exactly famous for all that.

I have read that most management people do not live in the villages.
If true, that very sad because they do not live within the decisions they make.

My wife's sister's husband grew up with the son of the guy who was Elvis Presley's bodyguard (and founder of a national chain of Karate schools). I once thoroughly embarrassed myself in front of Suzanne Sommers at LAX. I also drove O.D.B. of the Wu Tang Clan to jail. Does any of that count?

Steve Carell ( The Office ) parents had a home in the north part of The Villages as well years ago.

I think you’re thinking of the Villages from 1980s.
I know many residents whose net worth is in the 7 and 8 figures.
Even some with a B in front of their net worth.
Retirement is the great equalizer - no asks “what do you do” and no one is wearing a customer made suit.

A ‘7’ figure net worth is not impressive anymore. One can sell an average home in the Northeast and acquire that kind of ‘wealth’.
As far as a ‘B’ in front of their net worth....the only ones that could be assumed correctly to be in that rarified air....in TV, are the Morse siblings

And they would have to liquidate a vast majority, if not all, of their holdings to have access to that amount of capital. Kinda like being house rich and cash poor but on steroids.

Grew up in the LA area. Spent a lot of time in the marinas and at Catalina. Knew many folks in the entertainment industry. Some big names some small. For the most part, unless they were at some event, they preferred to go about their business like every one else. Just normal people who happen to have great jobs.

But, IMO most can’t afford same home in retirement in NE for that? Why they escape to other states, then want to change the state they moved from to one they left :22yikes:. IMO inherited money don’t make you famous just lucky. :highfive:

Great band - I Ran was their biggest hit, but they followed with several other top 40 hits - Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You), Space Age Love Song, The More You Live, The More You Love - They will be performing at The Sharon in October, I have great seats, can’t wait - I’m a big fan of 80s techno and new wave.

I couldn't have done it without the help of the community. And, by the way, I have never started a thread, dog poop or otherwise. Don't even know how. But I enjoy keyboard konversation and will happily add my $2.00 ($.02 adjusted for inflation) worth.

I'm going to have to check them out at the Sharon. I've seen them twice at Pine Knob in Michigan. In 1982 they opened up for the Go-Go's and in 1983 when they headlined and the Fixx opened. I was more of a hard rock type but my girlfriend liked them so the things you do for love! But they did have a great show and it was entertaining.
