Crumbl opening in Trailwinds

Recently I was in Miami and took the grands to Crumbl for the first time.

No one talks to you. You place your order on a kiosk & when your number flashes you pay. They have a tip from 18% to ( I think) 25%.
Are you tipping them for putting the cookies in the box??

I opted for NO tip given the fact they did nothing but box the cookies.

The cookies are $4 each. Also looked them up and they are 720 calories each.

Somehow I can’t imagine a lot of Villagers spending $4/cookie.
I won’t even comment on the calories!! :oops:

Remember, this is going in at Trailwinds Plaza, a non-Villages property with a LOT of apartments nearby and more being built. It seems younger people don’t mind spending money on stuff like this. I was at the eye doctor the other day and the receptionist had a Starbucks coffee delivered. I would imagine that cost somewhere in the $10 range.
As far as $4.00 for a cookie goes. We were at Disney Springs awhile back and the line to get into Guideon’s was down the street. People were hoping that the cookies didn’t sell out before they got in.

Good cookie, but very pricey. Similar price-wise to Darlin’s in Sawgrass Grove.

Supposedly the cookies are very big and are intended to be shared. I haven't ever been to a crumbl. But I did check their website. The turn-off for me was the chocolate chunk cookie that had salt sprinkled on top. The salt is a deal-breaker. I'd pay $4 for a cookie. But not with salt sprinkled on top. Salt baked in to the dough because science requires it - I'm fine with. The only time I want salt added to my chocolate is chocolate-dipped Ruffles potato chips.

Makes me long for the days of Mrs Fields cookies in every mall and city center across the nation. Now all but vanished. Crumbl is a serviceable product but their time on the stage will be brief in comparison....

Would rather drive to Gideons, if you are going to sugar overload Gideons is a much better cookie, definitely more than $4. But if one is looking for a cheap sugar high, any grocery has that cookie isle full of cheap processed packages

Recently gave the Crumbl that just opened in Ocala a visit.
Was not thrilled with the chemical taste of the cookies or the guest experience for the price. I’ll stick to the refrigerated rolls that you pop in the oven for cookies, or even Publix cookies were better by comparison.

Get Pepe's to open a pizzeria/sub shop here (they have one in Delray Beach). A couple of small antique stores, each specializing in something and accepting consignments. A greek diner at the end of the strip, in a real railroad dining car with early breakfast specials from 6am-9am, and open until 9pm. A vintage clothing store, a store that specializes in clothing and accessories for dancers (like a Capezio store). A mini-food court with a) middle-eastern food like falafels, b) Indian food - samosas and curry chicken etc c) healthy vegetarian/vegan joint d) a kosher market e) an italian bakery that makes everything on site.

Maybe even run a food truck event once a month where a huge variety of food trucks can come and offer all kinds of edibles, while a band plays to entertain the customers, and feature local crafters and local chicken and duck eggs.

There are SOOOO many people in the Villages from "up north" that I think this community is missing an incredible marketing opportunity by not creating this kind of "fairground market" thing. They tried with Sawgrass but it's just way too small.

They’re big and shareable, but I didn’t find them better than Crumbl, which I didn’t think were great. Only had Gideon’s once more than a year ago, and honestly can’t remember much about them other than they were very thick. Daughter brought them to us when we picked her up at DW, so we didn’t have to wait in line for them. Not that we would have because to us it’s crazy to wait in a long line outside a shop to buy cookies.

They’re big and shareable, but I didn’t find them better than Crumbl, which I didn’t think were great. Daughter brought them to us when we picked her up at DW, so we didn’t have to wait in line for them. Their average daily just cookie sales is over $40,000 a day at each location, cakes, drinks, and merch doesn’t count in those figures.:D

One cookie for us is split into 4s, is sometimes more then we can eat. So $6 divided by 4 is very reasonable in price, and butter consumption. We go about every 3 weeks and have a space in the freezer just for our stash

Trust me Gideons only sells in their store at Disney Springs or home base Orlando.

If they ever entered Disney Parks, Gideons would not be $6, more like $16 with Disney markup.

Gideon’s only has less than 200 employees, plus it take 24 hours to make a Gideon’s cookie, Disney doesn’t have that kind of timeline.

We usually go to Arts for brunch, then in line at Gideon’s, we have soft cooler we put all our cookies, and one cake, and drink a cold brew while we shop around the springs. Since it’s two of us we can get 1 dozen cookies. They freeze very well, and it’s my go to for small dinner parties, or when fam visits

I never made any comment about Disney owning Gideons nor supplying Disney properties with their product. The 'Disney logo' reference was in the context of selling the product under the Disney umbrella....in this case, out of Disney Springs. If Gideons remained in the original ORL location, its a $3 - $4 cookie. I know what the rents are in Disney Springs and to Gideons credit...that location can support the upgraded infrastructure. Without Disney/ Disney Springs ... ...nobody outside of ORL knows about this business. Again, that was the point!

The Netflix series “Somebody Feed Phil” did an episode in Orlando this current season, and the original Gideons is one of the locations featured. Phil had a conversation with the owner. I’m wondering if it’s any easier or faster to buy at that location?

Depends on the day and time. Since already at Disney, it just faster than driving in traffic to Orlando store.

Prior to Springs location, we would work around times for Orlando store just after morning rush hour, then get lunch, stop at TJ’s then drive home before 2 o’clock traffic. Traffic is lighter on weekends, but the lines can sometimes be 1/2 hour. You can preorder, but if they are really busy add on can be a pain. Second issue No cold brew. Our first cookies in 2017, store was busy, but nothing like today. Unlike previously posted cookie prices are the same $6.
