Did anyone see the article today in the VillageX-News about the new Hammock Oaks development on SR-466 and Cherry Lake Rd (Lady Lake) questioning about using the Villages golf facilities?

https://www.**************.com/2024/06/27/hammock-oaks-development-touting-access-to-golf-courses-in-the-villages/

I thought that if you were a non-resident that resided in Lady Lake, Sumter, or Marion counties that you were not allowed to golf in The Villages?

I don't think there are any restrictions on the championship courses.

Non-residents need to have a guest pass in order to golf the executives. Those in the counties you listed are only allowed to obtain a guest pass if they are a close relative of a resident.

Unless something changes, it would seem that Hammock Oaks people will only have access to the championships unless they happen to be close relatives.

The ad states: • You have your choice of 80+ golf courses in The Villages to practice your swing.

Last I checked, TV does not have 80+ championship courses. I'm wondering if TV legal dept is looking into this.

There aren’t 80+ golf courses in the Villages for the residents, even if you count putting and pitch and put courses. Non residents can only play the Championship courses at rates that don’t compete with courses outside the bubble. Sounds like blatant false advertising.

The ad I read stated choice of 80+ golf courses in THE AREA. There are many golf courses OUTSIDE of the Villages.

However, I think they may have changed the wording to choice of 80+ golf courses in THE AREA. I did not see an ad referencing villages golf when I checked their website.

IF any of you took the time to fully read it you would know that Ryan homes, while mentioning a lot about the villages never said that hammock oaks can use the golf courses. It just said area golf courses NEAR the villages.

read next time without interpreting. face it if someone bought over there why the heck would they want to be in here?

Perhaps you should re-read what it said and "read without interpreting"?

They were contacted & they changed the wording.

The sky is no longer falling in TV.

They can’t play the executives, unless a friend gets them a guest pass, in which case, they may play a few rounds, but the Villages will pick it up if a guest pass is playing a lot of Executive golf. TV will protect their asset (the golf courses)
they can play championships, if they pay the greens fee. If a resident of Hammock Oaks was such a big golfer, they would buy in The Villages. Yes, there might be a dozen who are trying to game the system, but I don’t anticipate a huge number of tee times being taken by Hammock Oaks residents.

Which is it? The Villages Championship courses suck, play outside the bubble, it’s a better value.
Or buy outside the Villages, and come into the bubble and play these great courses?
Hammock Oaks resident are doing what so many on TOTV preach - play outside TV.

As far as restaurants and shops in the town squares, they really don’t care where people live. Their money is just as good as village residents. As far as the entertainment areas, no way to stop anyone going to the music venues.

Not true. They would not be able to get a guest pass.

From Village Community Development Districts (http://www.districtgov.org)
Eligibility Requirements:
A resident with a valid resident ID card can apply for a guest ID card. A qualified guest is defined as an individual whose current residence is outside Lake, Marion and Sumter counties. A resident who has a son, daughter, grandchild or great grandchild (and their spouses) who reside in Lake, Marion or Sumter counties may apply for an in-area guest ID card.

Issuance:
Guest ID cards are issued for a guest(s) whose current residence is outside Lake, Marion and Sumter counties for up to 30 days from the issue date. Guest ID card renewals may be requested after the 30th day for an additional 30 days and renewals may continue to be issued every 30 days. The in-area guest ID card for qualified family members is valid for one year from date of issuance.

That’s what most will never understand about the squares. Yes it’s an amenity to TV community but the developer knows it can’t sustain itself solely on those seeking to redeem 15% off ‘I’m old’ discounts and occupying seats all day/night with water and lemon wedges. It’s marketing by other developments and neighboring communities are the heartbeat of its success, growth and sustainability.

They changed their website after many Villagers complained to them. Now it reads, "You have your choice of area golf courses near The Villages to practice your swing."

No matter the case, if it is here (TV), they will come. People walk on the execs and play after the last tee time (course closed). There is no ID checker, nor ambassador. Guaranteed not all of these people are Villagers, nor the guest of Villagers.

Hummm ? Wonder what they are referring to ? ? Seems no one would take a chance (legally) to advertise something like that, and yes, "80+ courses in the Villages", even that part makes you wonder why they would take such a chance ?

The ad I read stated choice of 80+ golf courses in THE AREA. There are many golf courses OUTSIDE of the Villages.

"Area" much smarter choice for public advertising I'd say....lol... The Villages seems to have an extensive legal bench, I'd not want to tempt fate. Still, even using "area", 80 courses in this area where non residents/public can play seems a stretch, but perhaps so. Spruce Creek, Del Webb, Water Oak, and so many retirement communities south of Leesburg and Ocala are all open to non residents so might be 80, but sure not "golf cart accessible" LOL, LOL !

The link in the article still works.
