Okay, now that a billion dollar industry has been made out of this fraud, it highlites
the gullability and paranoia of the American people........... so the goal is to create commerce thru non truths.............. and many will jump on board for the financial ride and the entertainment of it all.
Now that there are 1 billion, at least, camera phones in the world these sightings have stopped. hmmm
Never mind, Big Foot and the Lochness monster.......the tragedy here is that people are gullible to believe anything with even a small pebble of truth wrapped into fields of lies. Does the government really posses a flying saucer and dead alien bodies.
Please chime in with your experiences on ufo's and aliens and I am not talking about the younger generation. As we look back in time we realize how naive we really were. Will we ever get over that or are we just looking to convince someone else of something stupid for a laugh............:pepper2:

What I find fascinating is how that alien technology so closely resembles ours! I remember magazines back in the 50s and 60s, where people who saw UFOs (some even reported being abducted by them) where the artists' conception of what the people reported looked exactly like the technology of the time. Abductees reported instruments aboard the alien's ships that had analog dials and tuning knobs, to say nothing of the fact that some of those ships (in the earlier reports) had the general lines of a 1930s toaster or a flying cigar.
Thankfully, their technology seems to have evolved to keep pace with ours.

Cannot see why any intelligent space travellers would want to have anything to do with us unless we become a threat after technological advances allow us to travel further out into space. Intelligent life would keep a distance and just watch with as few contacts as possible.

A UFO is any Unidentified Flying Object.
It does not have to be from outer space, just a flying object that is unidentified.
Many are subsequently identified, so cease to be UFOs, but they were UFOs prior to identification.
No conspiracy theory here.

After WWII, there was a conspiracy theory that the Nazis had escaped to the moon, and set up shop there. It was all based on their work with V-2 rockets towards the end of the war. It all seemed so advanced to people at the time. You can find YouTube videos that discuss it, and about 10 years ago, a movie named "Iron Sky" used the theory to make a crazy story. Once people got educated, they dumped that belief, and seemed to have moved on the UFO belief.
Bottom line: Space is big. Really big. The nearest star would take 4.3 years to reach at the speed of light. Approaching that speed would take an enormous amount of energy. And there is plenty of scientific evidence that no physical being can go faster than the speed of light.
Add to that the issues with space/time as you approach the speed of light, and the fact that we have never, since looking for them starting in the early 70's, picked up any radio signals, leads me to only one conclusion: We have never been visited by alien life. And if intelligent life is out there, it's really far away. And rare.
As a fan of Star Trek and many things science fiction, I hate to say this but - most likely, we will never encounter life outside of Earth. And alien visitation is a fantasy.

What I believe is this hold topic is a joke.
What people believe in or don’t believe in as far as I’m concern is personal and at the end their beliefs might even pan out to be true.
If someone believes in space aliens or not, climate change or not does not make them gullible it’s just their beliefs.
I’m not religious and I’m sure many who are posting their negative opinions are worshipers of some sort. Though I do not subscribe to their religious beliefs and financially trough the tax system in this country I’m forced to support their beliefs in one way or another, I tolerate their beliefs without question because I know this is what they need to get themselves through the day.

I don't believe that ANYTHING is possible, I mean, Taylor Swift isn't going to ask me out, but I'm willing to state that there are any number of things that are not possible now, but might be later, based on scientific advancements.
But in the absence of any evidence as I've described, plus the issues with vast distances, light speed travel, much less faster than light travel, I can only draw one conclusion - we have never been visited by intelligent alien life.
Happy to be proven wrong. But no one has managed to do it yet.

For most of human history the average speed on land was 3 mph. Speed under sail, particularly in open water, was a bit better: maybe 6 knots (about 7 mph). If you wanted to go coast-co-coast in 1860 you had several choices: covered wagon = 5-6 months. Taking a sailing ship around Cape Horn took roughly 200 days, assuming you got there at all. Going down to the isthmus of Panama, crossing overland and boating on up the Pacific coast took about 43 days. Then steam power came of age and with the transcontinental railroad you could get from NY to San Francisco in a week--and at 85% less cost. Today? About four hours.
Remember when the sound barrier, according to quite a few educated minds at the time, was NEVER going to be broken? We were also NEVER going to reach the moon. We would NEVER discover other planets because they didn't exist. Lots of NEVERS back then. Heck, I knew plenty of people in my youth who before Orville and Wilbur came on the scene thought that heavier-than-air flight was NEVER going to be achieved. Until it was.
I heard once some time back (1980?) that the sum total of humanity's knowledge doubles every two years. Maybe. Sounds like a huge number and I suck at math. But one thing I DO know is that the people claiming NEVER, will, in time, ALWAYS be wrong.
I probably won't be around to see it, but I have no doubt that my grandchildren will, one day, be able to see Voyagers 1 and 2 on display at the Smithsonian. And the history books of THEIR children will contain detail not only evidence of alien life but also the encounters between aliens and humans.

Actually sightings have increased with all the cell phones, but you would know that if you listened to congressional hearings on the subject. Personally, I’ve taken photos and videos through my telescope of them. The one I photographed was a plasma ship that suddenly morphed into a solid spaceship and then morphed back into an energy plasma ship. Just because you haven’t experienced something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Out of trillions of planets the creator made, we aren’t the only beings in the universe. To think otherwise would be very elitist of us.

Agreed.
Add to that also that we exist on a tiny rock about 400 or so degrees above absolute zero. Most of the real estate in this universe is far hotter, gassier, more radioactive and larger than our rock. We search for life as we know it: i.e. at approximately the same stage of technological development or a bit more, perceive time similarly to us, breathe oxygen, use electromagnetic waves for communication, and live on a rock similar to ours. But there could be other intelligent life in this universe, possibly in our own solar system, and maybe even on our rock, that is so different from ours that we are incapable of recognizing it.
Yet.

I lived in Connecticut, my house was beachfront on Long Island Sound. One night I went to bed, and noticed an odd saucer shaped thing with lights around it, in the corner on the big sliding doors to the deck. Hmmmm..... I watched it for what seemed like an eternity, because I knew it was over water, but didn't know why it was hovering in place. Planes don't do that. I fell asleep, and thought that was the end of it. The next night it was back! I actually woke my teenager up, and made her come look at it....... same thing. Never saw it after that second night. No one will ever convince me that there's no such thing, something is out there.

I agree Taylor swift will never ask you out if that important to you.

And everyone supports the things you believe in the same fashion and all tolerate them because you need them to get yourself through the day.
Stop pretending you are better then others, it actually shows the exact opposite.
One I do not care if people believe in what I believe in, also I do not need my beliefs to carry me through the day. Do I believe I'm better than everyone else,
I was a poor New York City kid who grew up in an apartment complex that had more people jammed in it than some small towns. In the type of environment, you either ignore or tolerate others. The one true belief I have is if you destroy the beliefs of many, there would be a meltdown of the suicide how line.

I’m up in the air on this one. no pun intended. I do wonder why the government had to change it from UFO to UAP. They always have to stick their nose into everything. I saw the testimonies. I saw the footage and I still have trouble believing.
As far as climate change, it’s real but it has nothing to do with us, and we’re very arrogant to think that we can fix it. Climate change people should read the science behind it. They would realize our planet goes through this every million years and it’s proven. It’s not our fault. It’s nothing we do. It’s just our planet. If the climate change people want to get off their butts and actually do anything besides just complain, they could work on pollution, littering, stuff that actually might clean up our water and air. Funny when you watch the weather channel they talk about the temperature rising and then they show the record temperature was higher 20 years ago. And don’t get me started on people who think electric cars save the planet. I love electric cars, but to think that they’re actually cleaning the environment is just crazy. Creating that electric uses more natural resources than gas cars, not to mention the toxic waste dumps left behind to make those batteries and then when you dump those toxic batteries into landfills I can’t even imagine the mess. BUT I’ll be gone by then.☺️
Everyone has the right to believe what they wanna believe. If you wanna believe in UAP then more power to you? If you want to believe your electric car helps with the environment I’d say do your research but again more power to you.. I believe and live and let live just don’t mess with my life.

UFO=Unidentified Flying Object, Is a smaller range of possibilities than UAP=Unidentified Aerial Phenomena. UAP opens the door for things that don't "fly" in the conventional way, like a plane. Things that seem to float or hover, odd lights or clouds, mirages, meteors and other things that appear in the sky that may defy a logical explanation. I have seen UAPs several times. But I never attributed/equated them to extraterrestrials. Just odd things in the sky that I had no answer for.

As an aside:
If naturalistic evolution is correct, there must be other intelligent life out there in our own galaxy. Most would be far, far older races than humanity simply due to our stat being so young.
Assuming no race could ever figure out to to bypass the speed of light with a million extra years to figure it out is silly. True. But I think the whole issue of alien encounters hinges on whether there is any possible way to achieve faster (and probably much faster) that light travel---whether it be wormholes/stargates, hyperspace/subspace, or warp drive. An extension of the Drake equation with all the new information from the Hubble and James Webb telescopes would suggest there are upwards of 40 TRILLION civilizations at least as advanced as ours in the observable universe. However, without FTL travel, the only ones that could ever interact with each other would be in the same solar system as each other.
Now, if FTL travel is possible and aliens were looking for other "intelligent" life, our only detectable signals are now only about 90 light years out, and quite faint at that. Five thousand years ago we were "dark". So now, on our little rock orbiting an insignificant star on the edge of one of the spiral arms of an insignificant galaxy, the aliens would have to have stumbled upon us, and curious enough not to be repulsed by our primitive behavior. The odds are pretty low when you put all this together. But in the unlikely case that it was true, it certainly would shed light on some of the mysteries of our past.

But what we have right now is just absence. And breaking the speed of sound is a far cry from being able to travel at 186,000 miles per second.
And you may well be right. But right now there is no hard evidence you are, just alot of speculation that because the universe is so big, there just HAS to be other intelligent life out there and they MUST have figured out a way to cover the vast distances of space quickly because they MUST be so much older/more advanced than us. Oh, and totally sidestepping the issue of space/time that comes with lightspeed travel.

Slaves have been around from beginning when one human took control. Once one took control the other was slave. Slavery still going strong we or majority just don’t see it first hand.

Only if you limit yourself to current human technology for detection of life and ability to travel through space. I like to think humans are just starting out with such things. Given a million more years of innovation and I bet we can detect life in vastly superior ways than we do today and travel through the cosmos in ways we have yet to even create in science fiction.
I accept that you disagree and think humans and all other life forms are incapable of inventing new things that appear to be break what we call rules today, just like humans did with so many other rules we claimed are impossible to break.
Heck, just a few decades ago, War of the Worlds has the aliens using MASERS. We have since invented them even though it was soundly science fiction.

But what we have right now is just absence. And breaking the speed of sound is a far cry from being able to travel at 186,000 miles per second.
You are still claiming the absence of evidence is evidence of absence. You are still wrong. Absence of evidence shows nothing except we have no evidence.
Now, if you wish to claim you are holding a faith based belief, then no problem. Believe anything you want, just know it is purely faith based.
Purposely placing arbitrary limits on human inventions is silly...just like it was when people insisted humans could never fly through the air.

Life is a fact , my understanding is our sun is a second perhaps third generation , that does not give any guidance as to how common life is or likely for intelligence to develop, certainly we can not be sure as to all the possible forms of life under what conditions . A large number of things had to occur for life as we know it here, one data point tells little about likelihood. Our experience here tell us intelligent life is a very recent thing . Environmentalist tell us we are well on our way to extinguishing ourselves, could be intelligence is self limiting, any number of scenarios could take us out or the whole planet or send everything back to start. With only the very limited knowledge and time span how can we be sure of much of anything. The idea of ET visitors has little to substantiate it.

Well, I can't argue with that. Using that logic one can believe in anything. No evidence required.

There was a disease, thought to be extinct now that was confined to the highlands of New Guinea call Kuru. It was a prion disease similar to Creutzfeldt-Jacob in humans or Bovine Spongiform Encephalitis in cattle. The only means of transmission was ingesting the brain of a human that was infected. Hopefully extinct, anyway.

Did some clicking on that and found out that headcheese originated in...Scotland! And here I always thought we had the Germans to thank for that.
Well done though it's some good stuff. Mom would take a steer's head and a pig's head, me or another brother would cut them in half with a chain saw, and after they were cleaned out she'd boil both of them in a huge pot for a good 12 hours or so until the meat fell off the bones. She'd pick out the bones and season up the slurry, then simmer it until most of the liquid was gone, pour what was left into bread pans, and when cool we had loaves of really tasty meat. Better than you can buy anywhere.
Never heard it called "brawn" before though.

Just because we can't get there doesn't mean "they" can't get here. Imagine somebody saying you can't cross the ocean in a day in 1880? Only a short time later we can cross an ocean by jetliner easily in less the a day. We went from learning to fly in 1903 to landing on the moon in 1969 in just 66 years. Just imagine what others can do on other planets that are millions of years ahead of us. That is what people should consider.

True, but if the laws of physics absolutely prevent FTL travel, then a million, billion or trillion years more advanced makes no difference. There would have to be ways to travel FTL or a way around it to make interstellar travel practical.

Cannot see why any intelligent space travellers would want to have anything to do with us unless we become a threat after technological advances allow us to travel further out into space. Intelligent life would keep a distance and just watch with as few contacts as possible.
I don't know why anyone would presume that we are the only life form in this vast universe. Anyone who could travel here is far more intelligent than we are. There are reports of them being around our nuclear plants. We are not smart enough to keep from destroying our planet (e.g. climate change deniers), so I am sure they are afraid we will destroy their habitat. We are already leaving behind space junk. It is not enough that we are polluting this planet, we want to pollute space and other planets.

We are not alone in the universe, and never were. Humans are a work in progress. Still evolving. As a whole, we know enough to get in trouble, but not enough to get out of trouble. Some recognize cause and effect. Some can't, don't or won't and bury their heads in the sand of lies and denial. Just because I love my fellow man, it doesn't blind me to our faults.
Earth is a tiny raft floating in the sea of space. As our population grows our individual space is diminished, our resources are thinned and damage to the raft increases, bringing us ever closer to dismantling or sinking the only place, currently, that we can inhabit and survive.

Imagine if an alien came today and asked to be taken to our leader?
My wife handles all inquiries.

Perhaps the government thinks the disclosure of ET would harm our belief system just as Winston Churchill said in his private letter which is available online. Also the one thing scientists believe in is every living species needs water to survive. Looking at Earth from outer space would be like viewing an oasis in a desert to them.
Also after the year 1945 when we first used nuclear weapons maybe this was seen as a threat and we must be closely monitored. Kinda of like watch out "They found the matches!"

Given the the technology to be an interstellar civilization, would they need to travel here for basic materials ? That same technology would likewise make planet earth a non threat

The extreme numbers of galaxies (200 billion to 2 trillion) and the number of stars within a typical galaxy (100 billion) would suggest a high probability that life of some form exists elsewhere. The extreme distances of space would suggest a low probability that any extraterrestrial life has visited here. Our own galaxy is 100,000 light-years across. The nearest solar system is over 4 light-years away. Achieving any significant percentage of the speed of light will require some extremely advanced technology. Also, keep in mind that once you accelerate to speed, you must decelerate and that takes time. Wormholes are a mathematical bi-product and may or may not exist let alone be created and utilized. I suspect there is a low probability that an advanced civilization would find that there is a compelling reason to expend the resources to visit here if they had the capability. Regarding advertising our existence, significant electromagnetic energy has only been transmitted from earth for about 50 years. Therefore, the signals have only reached out in a sphere of diameter 100 light-years. This isn’t very far. Also, there is the issue of decreasing signal to noise.

There have been a number of scify stories about starships or fleets of starships, traveling at sub-light speed, carrying massive numbers of human migrants to populate a new world and leaving a dieing Earth behind. The stories are of multi-generational searches for an Earth 2.0. Migration of our species to a new world would likely be a one way trip, regardless of travel speed. Pioneers of a new age. 👩*🚀🧑*🚀👽🤖

Given the huge number of planets out there, have to think life has found a way.
At some point I do think that people whether us or extra terrestials will find a way to travel at high speed.
Do think there is a possibility we have been visited by aliens who have either helped us or just watched us from above

Paragraph 1: Without a doubt!
Paragraph 2: Some theoretical physicists think it may be possible to exceed the speed of light. Even if we can't, that doesn't mean we are stuck here forever. With the damage already done, for the sake of our species I have hope for the future.
Paragraph 3: Your guess is as good as anyone's at this point.

There is no place stated / there is no real law that anyone can't speculate on speculation. There is no punishment for conversational speculation. Passes the time very well, when one has time to pass. . Who cares about sticking with logic in bbs conversation?
all human creativity starts with a speculation of doing the previously impossible, taking a risk of something different. . if that is the worst of the human behaviors, bring it on!
The risk is that one might take a "trip to Abilene."

To be truthful I am really an extraterrestrial, just dropping in on occasion , can't tell you why, sometimes just for giggles we will let you guys see something you can't Id or have a logical explanation for . we place bets on how it will be spun out, the odds go up in a sequential bet on a bet

I was abducted by an Alien from my local pub when I was 18, and home on leave from the military.
Turns out these aliens are female, about 38 years old, and from Finland.
It let me go in the morning, and unfortunately, I never met one again!

Yes, maybe we can see the Boeing capsule that’s stuck there?
Still stuck there, I was going to invest in Boeing space program after it tanks, but figure that would be bad investment..:sigh:
