Armed with a 10% off coupon, I went to Lowes to buy a new garage door opener. When it came time to apply the coupon - surprise! Lowes does not accept the coupon on an item if they will be doing the installation (which is priced separately). I did not expect the coupon to apply to the installation cost, but they would only accept the coupon if I did not arrange for installation. On what planet does this make sense? They lost a sale.
So, looking around, I can get the opener at a lower price from Amazon. Any recommendations on who to have do the installation?

Scott Cowen, 352-697-0321. Not sure, but you may get a better overall price if you buy the opener from the installer.

Romac gave me the best price, but I bought the opener from Romac with installation.

Ryan O'Cull, a neighbor kindly recommended him when we moved here and we found him so skilled, friendly, and super responsive, that we've shared his name now with many others.

Remember that MVP is out of business so you will need a more expensive fix.

Strange in that I called ROMAC and they wanted $900 to install a new Chamberlain DC IQ system installed. Scott's Garage Doors did it for $550 total.
Super quiet.

I just used Scott's Garage Door Service for a new smart opener (uses the MyQ system) (352) 697-0321 very pleased with the new opener, new keypad, new wall controller, & new remotes. Scott's was great, arrived on time, fair price. Completed the work fast. Plus they scheduled the work quickly, think I called & three days later they were here & did the installation.

It’s pretty easy to do it yourself if you are replacing an existing opener. I replaced my existing opener with the top of the line chamberlain with myQ and a battery backup in my last house.

Stay away, far, far away from Scotts Garage Door. He installed a new unit in my house we had trouble with the new unit and after trying to resolve the issue I went to BBB. They revoked his rating because he was UNRESPONSIVE to them also.

This is the O.P. - thanks, everyone. Scott's will be installing a new garage door opener this week. Hopefully the experience will be better than the one posted by wwwson.

Very curious wwwson. NEVER have seen anything negative about Scott's Garage Door posted in Nextdoor or here in Talk of TV. Always one in thousands.

I never take a poster of multiple years (since 2016), with only 22 posts. I know maybe not glued to social media, but, it’s just a post I will not rely on for recommendations on a business. Just my opinion.

I got a much better deal on the opener from Amazon. I did my own installation in a couple of hours. The new opener is Mich lighter than the old one, and the center attachment from the old one, over the garage door, worked with the new one. It came with a downloadable video step by step instruction manual. The only trick was that the ceiling bracket for the old All Star was a bit too far back to mate with the mounting bracket on the new one. I had to purchase a piece of pre drilled steel from ACE hardware and a couple of stove bolts. Cut the steel bar into seven inch lengths, problem solved.

I hate Lowes and have not stepped foot in there since Home Depot opened up!

At least one other poster said that Ryan doesn't install new garage door openers anymore. Is that not correct?

Post #8 said he didn't install garage doors. He just worked on my neighbors opener a month or two ago. I don't know anything about his work with doors.
