Lake Centre for Rehab billing woes.

Beware of Lake Centre for Rehab. Spanish Plains by Sharon Morse building. Their billing
dept. is terrible. I started going for PT on June 5, and paid by check each time for my co-pay.
Now as of July 13 and 9 checks later none of the checks have been cashed and I am getting
bills from Lake Centre for Rehab. I called the number on one of the bills and they have no
record of any checks and want me to pay by credit card. I refused and yes they told me that
they take checks when I checked in, and took my check 9 times. No they did not give me a
written receipt. My bad. FYI pay by credit card. They are investigating.

Writing a personal check is one of the worst ways to pay for anything. No receipt and no protection from a fraudulent merchant. Even if you pay the bank to stop payment, there are people who will hold the check for 6 months until the stop payment order ends and then cash it. There are also little old ladies who will get in front of me at Publix and pull out their checkbook, even in the Express lane.

I’m dealing with the same thing except I paid with my credit card and they still needed me to provide them with my receipts because they didn’t have theirs. We keep getting billed for 3 treatments that they have not submitted to insurance. We called insurance company and the treatment is covered but was never submitted. I just got another “past due statement “ yesterday so I will be stopping in person Monday to chat with the office manager.

Gosh, that must be very frustrating. I must admit I am very surprised to hear that you had a problem with Lake Center as I went there after each of my hip replacements and never had any issues at all. I did pay by credit card (not sure I still remember how to write a check) but that shouldn't make any difference.

I found the entire staff to be wonderful so I hope they will get you squared away. All you need when you are in pain is another irritation.
