Dealing with a very old phone, old battery, and almost-two-hour golf cart drive. The GPS app sucks up a LOT of battery, which will die before we even get halfway there on a full charge.
So - does anyone have DIRECTIONS to the golf course from the Spanish Springs area? Or even from Sumter Square, since we know how to get there just fine.
I understand to go Morse Blvd, take whatever tunnels get you around the roundabouts, south south south...
But I also know to get to Kristine something, because you can't go further on Morse by golf cart and have to use Kristine to get to some bridge that goes over 44. Only one of us is going.
GPS gives live instructions, but not printable directions. I need printable directions, and they have to include the lead-up and instructions on how to get to this Kristine Way/Road bypass, and the name of the bridge that he has to go over, and everything from that point on.
Google maps using bicycle option is useless because it says to ride ON the roundabouts, which you can't do in a golf cart, and I'm not familiar enough with signage and tunnels and bypasses down there and would totally spend a lot of time being lost.

Stop at the Villages sales office in either SS or LSL on your way and get a good old fashioned map. It’s easy, take Morse all the way south past the Rohan Recreation center and take the Bridge over 44 and follow the signs to Sawgrass. Then take the new bridge over the turnpike just south of sawgrass and follow the MMP through the construction zone toward the new high school. Have a great trip!

Don’t you have the ability to have your phone plugged in while driving? My golf cart does, am I wrong in thinking this is a normal feature?
If not, invest in a portable charger, cheap & useful in cases like yours. Overnight delivery from Amazon likely, hopefully that’s before your trip.

You are right, after following Morse south, south, south you have to turn left on Kristine Way as if you are going to the Rohan Rec center. Pass the center and take a right (This is right after the rec center parking & before the shopping center). The right will take you over the Chitty-Chatty golf cart bridge. Wheee! Stay on your MMP & pass through the villages of Chitty-Chatty & Bradford, you are now running parallel to Morse south, south south again. Until you turn left to run along Meggison follow Meggison until you turn right to cross Meggison, right after Saw Grass Grove (which will be on your right), right again you are now on the south side of Meggison heading towards Bexley Trail turn left to head over the crossing of the Florida Turnpike, still running along Bexley Trail, south, then you go right along 470 / Central Parkway & underneath, now heading west follow this & stay on the MMP to head south again & voila, you are there. Good Luck. I hope this helps.

OBB, if your cart has an old style cigarette lighter, you can get an adapter (any auto parts store) that will allow you to plug in your phone to keep the battery charged. If your cart does not have one of these, I can install one as can many of the mobile golf cart service companies. I cannot imagine trying to use a paper printout while driving a golf cart.

Thank you for the correction. You are right, of course. It will only be on the left once they have crossed Meggison & are heading east.

Oh now he wants to know - he should be in eyesight of Sawgrass once he's on Kristine, correct? He is thinking of stopping there for lunch during the trip.
I learn directions differently than he does, so I'm really bad at explaining stuff to him. I use my GPS and let it tell me where to go, I check for landmarks, and by the 2nd time of going to a place, I remember it and don't need GPS anymore for that trip.
I might surprise him down there at lunchtime, grab a slice of pizza or some kind of what not to stuff my face with before he continues his game.

The trip back is a little trickier in my opinion to navigate.
I would advise this person to get a new phone and then problem solved. No reason for anyone not to get a new phone as they're so cheap now.

Sorry, just now saw your question. No, he will only be on Kristine for about 200 yards before turning right on Morse south that crosses the Chitty Chatty bridge.
If you continue straight on Kristine, (instead of turning right to cross the bridge), you will see Lake Deaton plaza. There’s a Piesanos, an Asian food restaurant and Kumo Japanese restaurant there.
As for Sawgrass, you have to continue across the bridge on Morse south. Stay on Morse south, (no turns), all the way. It will turn into Meggison south. You’ll pass the St. Catherine entrance and continue. Sawgrass will be on the left. At Sawgrass, there is a pizza place, (Frenchy’s), fish, (Little Fin), and burgers, (Willy’s). Also McGrady’s Pub is adjacent to the market.

Given the challenges with your phone, i suggest buying portable charger if your cart doesn’t have a USB port ot 12 V plug. You charge the unit at home and plug your phone into it. Now you’ll have enough battery for your phone to get you anywhere and back. You can get a good portable charger for under $20

No. On Kristine Way, you are still north of SR-44, and about 15 minutes from Sawgrass.
The trip from the Spanish Springs area to Shallow Creek should take a little more than one hour by golf cart. We live in Chitty Chatty, and it takes me right at 25 minutes to get to Shallow Creek. I can get to Spanish Springs in 40 minutes.

First of all, we have a lot of golf cart paths South of 44. One of the first posts gave you very good directions going over the Chitty Chatty bridge and along Morse Boulevard. Just be aware that the tunnel where Morse and Meggison meet Is going to be closed (I believe in late July) for at least two weeks.

Go onto your computer and download Google Earth app.
Once that is don't type in your home address and hit search, on the map it will take where you live. Add this to your permanent list. This might take a bit of learning.
Once this is done from then on when you type an address that you want to go to the map will show you where it is. You then right click on your mouse on the marker and a list will appear, one of the things on the list will say "Directions Here" click on it. Then you go to your permanent list and right click on the list with your address you will see a list "Directions To" click on that.
What will happen on the map will show you a line from one location to another, also a box will appear on the upper left of your screen giving you step by step direction to reach your destination and also how long it will take to get there.
Once you download this app and learn how to use it will take you second to get directions to wherever you want to go.
Good luck

I use Google maps in bicycle mode all the time. It always bypasses the roundabouts. Maybe you need to update the app...or maybe it's due to the old phone?
Also when you first get directions on Google maps, before you hit "start", at the bottom you will see "steps" or "more info". Click on that and you will get very detailed, step by step instructions.
Hope that helps.

You can Add a phone charger and phone holder attachment to let the GPS guide you. Amazon has a phone holder that goes in your cup holder and holds the phone where it is easy to see. Then attach a charging cable to whichever port is available in your golf cart. Here is the link to the phone holder;

Thanks to those who answered the question I asked. To those who made suggestions for improvement, I'm sure someone will have benefited from them.
Bring a charger: and plug it into what, on a golf cart?
Install a charger: pay $90 just to get directions for a single trip?
Buy a new phone: pay several hundred dollars just to get directions for a single trip?
Do anything other than get directions: He left at 6 this morning for his ride. There wasn't anything he could do between yesterday and today, other than get directions - which is why my request was for directions.
And - the spouse will be buying a new phone, when he gets around to it. He doesn't like change. His phone is from 2010. It works. Just not well, and he mostly uses it just to text me asking me to pick up Subway for him. If he got a new phone he'd have to learn how it worked, and set up his apps, and uninstall apps that run that he doesn't want to deal with, or learn how to deal with them, and so on and so forth. He is male. Males and new things don't go well together. He still hasn't figured out how to efficiently use the remote control for the TV and refuses to learn how to use the voice activation on it.

Download the FREE Villages GPS APP .
Click on “Recreation and Business “
Click on “Championship Course “ and then search for Shallow Creek….
Click on “Navigate” and then chose “Golf Car”
You’ll see the route mapped out for you . However, look at the lower right of the screen and you will see three horizontal lines stacked on each other . Some call this the “hamburger” icon.
Click on that and you will get a written turn by turn directions to the route .
Take a screenshot and save to photos . Due to the length of your trip, you will need to scroll and screenshot several times to get the whole trip.
When you get to the end , go to your photos and print each screenshot so that you can piece them together.
There you have your accurate “paper directions” you asked about.
This sounds complicated but it isn’t. It will take you 5 minutes, including downloading the free app .

I think a bypass could be:
Head south from Brownwood across both bridges to Marsh Bend Trail.
Turn left at the bridge exit and continue south through 2 tunnels and past Magnolia Plaza and continue south along Marsh Bend Trail.
Go left through the next tunnel at Corbin Trail and then continue south along Marsh Bend Trail.
Turn left at McNeil Drive, continue to Bexley Trail.
Right on Bexley Trail, follow the signs towards Middleton.

Not sure when this became a standard feature, but if the cart dash has storage compartments, pop them open and look for USB ports (under a cover flap) where you can plug in a charger cable. Free is there.
Also, a battery pack from amazon is $20 in many places. It an power and charge your phone even though it has a bad battery. A phone battery is typically 1500mAh on older phones, 5000mAh on newer ones. This one would be able to charge the phone many times. It should get you there and back easily.
Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/Solar-Charger-Power-Bank-Electronic/dp/B0BPM5JZYD)
Google maps has an option to download maps to the phone for access without any network connection. Would reduce power consumption on your trip.
Hope this helps.

Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Ultra-Compact-High-Speed-VoltageBoost-Technology/dp/B07QXV6N1B/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=3158VCJ1TR4K0&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.VYkdWTHgtPdXL6RODrYrYMtpdx8vfeqaS 6xCkuO1oTffP7KCAoVl33uv3M_QsKu_2FE7BqvuOobq-kT-NIW_L9H0oNAXgnGeE1Qf7f8fOwNSsL-2RfbXe5LjTAYZHX1Ksy_a7wS7Z3rSQtG0ML757Udgt2mb7-1tLHSQjjh0R-whapNPntFZjxCssB-Z2ySvAtJiQUURhRQfssimx-DcaVmopN11udhLeij87-Kjy6ThMLRtiPi6VkBffXxMdCnqiVhPsTPxCeEwAvkVTcilp3LQ 3aXhpKfzSgG9m2g7EaU.XDQuKLhYGt50obfxdVyKkhPYzJMGzj JPtZJnK8plhmE&dib_tag=se&keywords=battery+pack+charger+portable&qid=1721081851&sprefix=battery%2Caps%2C83&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1)
You can purchase similar ones for whatever charging ports your current phone has...
My phone doesn't need recharging. I know how to get as far as Kristine without having to resort to a GPS, and my phone is brand new. Because - as a sexist woman - I have to think about stuff like that, and plan in advance. And better yet - I know how to post on a forum and ask people for access to printed directions, which someone kindly provided. Us sexist women folks are resourceful like that.

Nice rant. Unfortunately, it had nothing to do with my comment...
But arguing a point a man never made is typical for a woman...
See how that works?:spoken:

It makes me wonder if keeping an old junkie phone that half works and claiming to get lost very easily is nothing more than creating plausible deniability for staying away from home longer/more often. Why someone would choose to stay away from home so much is anyone's guess

My guess....there are many on here specifically, who look forward to their significant other leaving for the day (gender blind). Two things I subscribe to....separation is the secret to longevity and (from an unlikely source....Jessica Simpson) the secret to a relationship is separate bank accounts! :1rotfl:

How about just use maps or Waze and DRIVE your car..save yourself and hour

pretty sure i would not travel that far in a golf cart, unless i was in a 4 seater facing forward in the back 2 seats with a cocktail ,,and a driver who knew where he was going
