It’s time to get nervous when everything in the pro shop goes on sale at a big discount. After that happened at Hacienda Hills, the restaurant, pro shop, bar, swimming pool, tennis courts, etc…. all had a close up encounter with a wrecking ball.

Could be ! ? Also could be a thoroughly DEEP cleaning and new decor, furniture, etc. It's 20 years old ... like older cruise ships with heavy daily traffic... it's time ! On the other hand, anyone who has lived for a good length of time here knows the post concerning H.Hills C. C. is accurate. Most things here (that could trigger some protest) are done suddenly with no previous announcements; indoor swimming pools destroyed, outdoor pools destroyed, cement block walls put up literally overnight to block an entrance or exit... it's like a box of chocolates, you just never know what you will get next ! I really don't know which way I would bet right now, closing up completely for some kind of additional housing ? Condos ? Apartments ? Villas with a golf course view ? Just can't guess. I've always had the "hunch" the polo fields/club's days are numbered, but I have absolutely nothing to base that on except it might not be the amazing advertising attraction it once was ? At one time, just like the "gates", it had amazing appeal to low and moderate income retirees, same as the "country clubs", as the old ad used to state: where any man can live like a kind and belong to a country club, gates added a kind of "exclusive" feel to the development as did the focus on polo... gave it a tinge of the Boca Raton, Palm Springs "upscale" exclusivity in addition to the "country club" life style, but I'm thinking that "polo thing" is no longer a powerful sales tool ? Just a thought !

If its making good money it stays otherwise bye bye. Does take up a lot of land that could become houses.

Considering that the Developer has spent at least $3M in the last 2 years and currently spending another $1.5M-$2M. on the Palmer Courses, I find it hard to believe that a closure of the course is imminent.

The Developer is many things, but "dumb" is not among them.

But it's summer and folks are cooped up in the house, so starting rumors can be entertaining I suppose.

I have to agree with you. Anyone thinking Palmer will be closing has no credibility…….just stirring the pot.

The precedent cited was Hacienda Hills, where everything else was closed except for the golf course. I don’t think anyone was remotely suggesting the golf course would be closed.

I would be shocked if their agreement with Palmer Golf would allow them to eliminate the clubhouse, nor do I think the Developer would give up the prestige of having the "Palmer" name associated with Villages golf. Not after they paid $1M+ to get the name.

As long as the great-granddaughter of The Villages founder Harold Schwartz is involved, the polo field will not be going away.

All very true.... I live close and seems to me it is one of the few restaurants that continues to do well even in the off season (like now), but guess we'll find out one morning when it's closed for good... or....getting a nice "dress up"....LOL !

What ever happened to "Lord" Lyle ? You know ? Is he still around ? Page still deeply involved in polo ?

reminder about the "slow season" comparison.
Today's slow season/population, was the height of the busy season not too long ago!

Wasn’t that After tried to pawn if off on districts like Chula Vista, terra da sol, Santiago? I suspect lopez, glenview, and palmers next as they get closer to highway 50? IMO no need to worry till they start selling off their commercial property north 466?

IMO it would have been better districts would have brought it so no more housing built in already over crowded area.

They did pawn off Santiago and it cost the residents millions in AAC money to fix and replace it.

If the lessee of the restaurant doesn't agree to pay for all the deferred maintenance over the years it will probably end up like Hacienda. The golf course will still be there but everything else will be gone.
