I see several folks raving about the add-on bidets, maybe that will save us if tp disappears. Personally I don't think I will go the way of the spray.

I haven't paid attention, does our water pressure come from water towers or pumping stations? I worked for a small water dept in my early years that used water towers for their pressure, during power outages we had a big diesel generator that pumped the water up to the tower.
On the heat side, I wonder if dipping in the pool on a regular basis would keep you from melting if we have an extended outage.

3 bathrooms no tub, but 5 gallons of distilled water, 30 cans of Yuengling, 64 bottles of super expensive wine, and 40 assorted sparkling ice and soda, 2 cases of water.
Exlarge pizza, 2 jars of PB, bread, cheese, crackers and homemade rice krispy treats
Were good.

I hope you lose neither power nor water in Lake Denham.
I too am relatively new & so far my understanding is in Sumter County with SECO power losing either water or power is a rarity. I have been told they lost neither in the last major storm - hurricane Irma, I believe in '17.
Flood waters might be an issue if a house is near a pond/lake/etc. Right now ponds near me are HIGH. A prolonged - very prolonged, heavy rain might be a cause for concern for some unenclosed lanais, bordering ponds.
At the moment, high winds don't seem to be headed our way.
As for heat from lack of electricity, I don't have much advice. Battery operated fans? Power packs that can power fans? What about food? I'm lost without the A/C & microwave
Good luck! & let us know how you fare during the storm.
Post Script: Last year during hurricane Idalia (very early in the morning, I walked my pup. The storm was a non event as far as I was concerned).

Developer plan’s well, makes every effort that water doesn’t encroach homes. But you will find Many unhappy that the golf courses are where the extra water ends up. Since the courses are closed tomorrow let the complaining begin, and those who’s house didn’t end up with pond water, do a happy dance.

I agree the civil engineering is top notch. However, I said that the ponds near me are very HIGH (the water is way past the tree line). There are certainly houses near those ponds that are in peril of some water (probably just in unenclosed lanais, or in pool enclosures or in birdcages) in a PROLONGED HEAVY RAIN EVENT, as some predictions currently are calling for a stall, hopefully it is just typical fear mongering. I have noticed that some courses are already being flooded & the sprinklers have been running on the roadway verges. I hope the current high waters that I see in ponds near me are not anywhere near where you are.

Our pond during the tropical storm in September 2017, rose 13 feet, came close roads and houses. Sprinklers were running days ahead 24/7. Pond water can be moved to larger ponds, as needed.
Golf courses became small lakes, some tunnels were underwater.
But no houses ended up with pond water. We had ducks swimming, by our house, a very confused gator who ended up in the road, along with 9 large trees fall into the pond. Every house stayed dry. This will be the third time for us since 2007, that pond control has been t its best.
Trying to predict what may or may not happen is a crap shoot. It’s just easier to wait and see. Water past the tree is the reason sprinklers in common areas have been running 24/7. If this is your first major rainfall, get some dvds to watch, every station will be non stop weather, over and over and over.

Correct, bottom line is somewhere between 25-30 in of rain, streets could start to flood.

I don't worry so much about mother nature, as much as I am concerned over human nature. Been through hurricanes, typhoons and earthquakes, and so far we have never found the need to evacuate. Worst it ever got, blew two shingles off our roof. The roof was getting old anyway. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzz:mornincoffee:

Have alway been told TV is second best place to weather out a hurricane.
First place is Disney hotels built to withstand Cat 4-5. Capable of feeding and housing thousands of people, usually give a great discount to those who need safe shelter.
Staff will stay and bring their families so no extra worry for them. Have been there twice during storms, no parks open but worth staying in place

Well stopped at neighborhood Walmart for gas, and snack stuff for trip to Disney tomorrow. The usual 20 plus cars putting in $7.00 of gas just to top off. Parking lot had zero open spaces, so let the over shopping begin.
I chose to drive by not waiting in lines even though I am at 1/4 tank, and no snacks. I will return tonight just before close be in and out in 15 minutes.

during Irma we only lost power for just over an hour. i'd hate to jinx us, but the news weather can be so dramatic sometimes: half the storms they predict never hit us anyway. i lived through Gloria in the northeast, --the rest is a piece of cake

The 10 day forecast shows high probability for rain every day even after Debbie’s eye has moved North & East. The biggest threats will be tornadoes (they tend to occur on the right side of the eye), lightning, flash flooding & sinkholes, not so much high wind nor extended power outages.

Heh. I believe it. You gotta go with what is available.
Growing up in the wilds of Northern Minnesota, community life centered around the church. Our church had an outhouse, one side male, the other female. Well-meaning parishoners would leave outdated Sears catalogues to be used as toilet paper. You learned right quick to turn to those yellow index pages as they were much easier on the anatomy than those glossy regular pages.
