Even though I moved to the Finger Lakes area 44 years ago, I never visited the Glen Curtiss Museum just south of Hammondsport, NY. Today, I am glad that I took the opportunity to visit the museum. Glenn Curtiss was an inventor/entreprenuer/daredevil who lived 100 years ago. He built and raced a motorcycle that set the land speed record of 136.4 mph in 1907 in Ormand Beach Florida. Here is an image of the V-8 motorcycle that he built. (I would not have gone that fast on that motorcycle!)

He went on to build airplanes for individuals and the military. The museum has many of the motorcycles and aircraft that he built over the years. If you are in the Finger Lakes region, I would encourage you to take a few hours to go through the museum.
