There are many coin collecting sites on the internet, some with pictures that can give you an idea on grading the coins if necessary. Going this route would provide you with some anonymity, then you could use Excel (or equal) to create a catalog of your coins.

I have been selling off my collection of over 50 years lately. With the price of gold and silver being so high today your wholesale offer ill tends to be more so on the weight of the coins verses the price of the coins. Wholesale is mostly %50 of the coin's values or more so for the melting weight of the metal. Be prepared and understanding today not so much of the grade or age of the coins, but the metal value.

There are lots of radio and TV commercials out there about the upcoming "financial crisis" and how important it is to buy gold or silver (coins or bullion) for when that day inevitably comes. And of course, the company THEY'RE touting is the best one for such purchases.
I've always wondered though: if gold or silver is going to be so valuable then--why are they trying to SELL it now?

They sell it for the fee they charge to buy or sell the gold and silver. I once called one these companies and asked them:
"If I buy $1,000 worth of gold today, and then sell it back to them the next day with no change in the market price, how much money will I get back?" The answer was $920.

Are they coins issued by the US Mint, or just silver rounds?

If you bought them for the numismatic value, there are many places on line that can assist you.
If you bought them for the silver content, also known as ‘junk silver’ then look up silver spot price on the internet. Some sites will give a value for dimes, quarters, etc. Try Bobs coin shop on 441 near Walmart. Or the jewelry shop on 466 near Ace Hardware.

When there is no internet and credit cards, debit cards, check cashing will not work the only way to pay for necessities will be cash or precious metals. It is a good idea to have both tucked safely away. If the “financial crisis” never happens the precious metals can always be sold.

I thought we learned during covid that precious metals were toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

be careful there! I brought a coin in for appraisal and they offered me 500 dollars less than it was truly worth.

EZStamp.com has a program for purchase for about $55. And I am sure somewhere there is an app for that.

I suggested Ebay because that is the real marketplace where hundreds of similar coins are being sold. You will get a much more realistic assessment of market value there than from a coin dealer or an appraiser.

Silver City in Ocala can tell you what they are worth.
I would buy more silver than look to sell what I have.
Saving in dollars makes no sense, with dollar inflation out of control.

When I sold my rounds, price was X times face value, Silver dollars 7X face face, same for dimes and Quarters. Your selling just for the silver in them.

Depends on the type of coin. Unless is collectable coin it will be based on metal content. Silver Eagle for instance is 99.99 pure silver so using current silver market price is a start.also must be in excellent condition to get a great tradable price. You can call around to dealers and buyers to check offers...
