In just 48 hours the new Weather Club talk called "Tonga Volcano and Global Warming" will be presented for the first time (with more planned). Due to voting activities at Laurel Manor, the place and time is different for this August talk. It will be August 15 at 1 PM at the Bridgeport Recreation Center. This talk will explain the real reason why 2024 is exceptionally hot - it's Tonga and not CO2. I'm trying to convince the speaker to wear a Toga for this presentation.

I thought the meeting had already been held on TOTV!

That was just the trailer. Like Paul Harvey used to always say ... and after the upcoming talk ... and now you know the rest of the story.

I am sure you are going to include in your discussion the recent paper from Texas A&M University showing that the Tonga volcano, based on 2 years of follow up data did NOT raise the global temperature as it had been thought it might.

Plain Language Summary
The Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai (Hunga) submarine volcanic eruption on 15 January 2022, produced aerosol and water vapor plumes in the stratosphere. These plumes have persisted mostly in the Southern Hemisphere throughout 2022 and into 2023. Enhanced tropospheric warming due to the added stratospheric water vapor is offset by the larger stratospheric aerosol attenuation of solar radiation. Hunga induced circulation changes that reduce stratospheric ozone and lower temperatures also play a role in the net forcing. The change in the radiative flux would result in a very slight 2022/3 cooling in Southern Hemisphere. The Hunga climate forcing has decreased to near zero by the end of 2023.

Don't you hate it when your pet theory for global climate change and record heat gets shot down by science and ongoing data collection.

The important thing to keep in mind and focus on is that the burning of fossil fuels is what caused the volcano to erupt in the first place. The increase in CO2, caused by hoomans, is too blame! :boom:

Pal-review studies make lots of money, but very little sense, which the Aug 15 talk will expose. Dessler (one of the study's authors) blocks all X users who attempt to have a dialog -- in other words he lives in a narrative bubble -- like Al Gore.

That's one possibility.

The more likely scenario is that the warming from the Tonga volcano blew a hole in the false narrative of CO2 as the cause of warming, so the powers that be (meaning those who stand to make trillions from this scam), had their pet academicians whom they own lock stock and barrel, put out another false narrative, bolstering their ongoing false narrative, and disputing the facts.

Geez ... that was going to be part of the opening remarks -- but anyway you get an A+ even without attending the talk. For those climate alarmists out there ... here is another trailer ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgsNYGkkIAE

Honest question. When did it change from global warming to climate change?

It is peer reviewed not pal reviewed. You sure can throw the insults. Do you believe these people make the kind of money that Koch et al make and who sponsor some scientists and have demanded universities hire their approved professors?

The Journal of Geophysical Research is a peer-reviewed scientific journal. It is the flagship journal of the American Geophysical Union.[1] It contains original research on the physical, chemical, and biological processes that contribute to the understanding of the Earth, Sun, and Solar System
Do you think Twitter is the proper place for scientific debate? Refusing to interact with climate change deniers who want to snipe on Twitter does not make him isolated. Typical garbage from you.

This paper was published in one of highest rated leading journals in the field, and you think you can dismiss it because it doesn't fit your opinion.
