The local owner Panuce then rushed Zeus to the vet where he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Veterinarians operated and removed his spleen, but his prognosis remained poor. So, Panuce connected with a team of medical experts who were conducting a groundbreaking age reversal clinical trial on dogs.
The CEO of Telomir Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Christopher Chapman partnered with Dr. Michael Roizen from the Cleveland Clinic to test a new drug aimed at lengthening telomere caps on human stem cells.
And then of course, March came in a terrible surgery
“If you can increase telomeres, you can reproduce stem cells and keep repairing things so you can literally get younger,” Dr. Roizen said.
Dr. Roizen said the drug’s pre-clinical data from a previous in vitro human cell study showed that telomeres lengthened by 200%.
Zeus was granted access to the medication due to his dire situation. In April, Marsha was instructed to give him one pill a day and she said she saw results almost immediately.
“We have watched him get better and better and better,” Marsha said.
A recent scan on Zeus showed the cancer in his body was completely gone.

No mention of the drug, no mention of the name of the study. No mention of the stage of the clinical trial nor the demographics of the 10 dogs in the study.
I looked it up. Here's what the trial is about: they're inducing osteoarthritis in 10 laboratory beagles, and then seeing if their drug will reverse it.
If it doesn't reverse it, those laboratory animals will spend the rest of their lives in pain, even though they had no pain until the scientists forced them to have it.
I wouldn't want to get younger. I want to live WELL - for however many years I have left. A dog with a removed spleen won't suddenly grow a new spleen with medicine. That's what this dog has already gone through.

What a horrible thing to do to these poor dogs

Animal models for human diseases is nothing new. Animal studies are required prior to human studies. The most recent PDUFA update does promote research into non-animal pharmtox possibilities. But animal studies aren't going to be replaced any time soon. Again, these are required by FDA (and other health authorities) prior to being able to test new drugs in humans.
However I guess we can now add younger dogs to the millions of mice who have had cancer cured.

No mention of the drug,
Alpha Lipoic acid is one supplement that is supposed to work. But, there are more than one kind of Ala, like blood. Only one "active" kind (R, I believe) is considered to be the best.
Disclaimer! I am not a doctor or health expert of any kind. I have never played one on TV. Do your own research. Good luck to us all.😉

Feed your dog with a minimum of 75% meat daily, instead of that manufactured biscuit stuff.
Your dog will thank you, and stay fitter a lot longer.

For whatever it is worth does not bother me when monkeys or other animals used for medical testing but dogs do.

Good. Your dog is a carnivore, not a kibblevore. You wouldn't serve kibble to your babies. Your fur baby, part of your family, should get food more to what it would naturally eat.
And, stay off my lawn! 😬

What about humans? We're animals? Or chimpanzees? They are close to human. What about criminals on death row? Their last act could be one of aiding humanity instead of threatening it. 🤔🤔🤔

Dogs are omnivores, not carnivores. Cats are carnivores.

I learned something today ⭐. I would have guessed dogs were carnivores but it looks like they evolved from wolves and slowly became omnivores. I guess wild wolves are still carnivores but domesticated ones aren't.

Grass when they are sick doesn't count. Cows can be considered omnivores if you take into account the insects and other things they get muncing grass and hay. But, to the best of my current knowledge, wolves, coyotes, dogs are hunters, not gatherers. But, I will check out dog omnivores since you made the distinction. Thanks for my new search subject.

We've had our previous and now our current dog enrolled in the "Dog Aging Project". They are doing clinical trials on the drug Rapamycin which has been showing improvement in the quality of life in older dogs by keeping lean muscle mass as they age.
So far our dogs have not been picked for the trials but they do collect research data which I think helps in their efforts. Anything to make our dogs live a better life is a noble effort.

Wolves and coyotes are not dogs. All three are canines, but only dogs are dogs, just as wolves are not coyotes, and coyotes are not jakhals. Dogs - domestic canines - are omnivores.
