I want to put a glass door on my Roman shower to keep it warm when I shower. Has anyone ever done this to their shower? Could you please post pictures and who did the work thank you.

Sorry do not know of any resident that has put a door on their Roman Shower. However, I do know others who have installed a heat lamp in their shower (or bathroom) to help keep them warm.

I would check with Lake Mirror and Glass in Leesburg.

But, you may want to rethink the glass door. As I understand it, the main reason for building a Roman shower is to eliminate the glass door. I would also mention that a door can trap moisture in the shower that promotes mold growth.

We wanted the shower to be warmer, too. We ordered a nice tension rod and a 96" shower curtain and installed them in the doorway as you enter the shower proper.

Works very well, and there is no trapped moisture problem. No damage to tile and easily removable.

We use a shower curtain on a tension rod too, in the cold months.

Slightly off-topic, but if you have a plastic shower with a glass door, leaving the door open for a few hours after taking a shower will greatly reduce the amount of black and pink mold in the stall.

Our roman shower has an exhaust fan, so you could leave this OFF while showering, but be sure to turn on afterwards to control humidity. I would suggest replacing the original ON/OFF switch with a timer version so the fan would turn off automatically.

I just use hot water there are two vent fans in my bathroom, one in the shower and the other in the toilet are, plus I keep a squeegee to clear the mirrors when I get out. If this is not hot enough check the water temperature coming from your water heater. If that does not help, I don't know what to tell you.
Maybe you can try a wood burning stove.

This is what we did too. I ordered from Amazon, and got a nice decorative fabric curtain plus a separate vinyl liner, both in shower door width, not tub width. It’s been great for almost two years now. No more draft and no mold issues (though I do run the fan half the day to dry out the shower).

I would suggest a heater/exhaust fan combo in the ceiling. It will keep you warm and you won’t have to keep the glass clean.

We do not have a Roman shower however we had a frameless shower door installed to replace the shower door installed by the developer. I could see this type of glass being installed in a Roman shower. We have had the new door for about 4 or 5 years and are very happy. Easy to clean and always looks good. I like a door on my shower, too. However, some of the solid glass doors (about 1/2” thick) are very heavy, and the installation instructions are pretty specific. I installed one in Pennsylvania about fourteen years ago. The door was $600. As I recall, I had to install three 2x4s nailed together. I was able to do that because I had the bathroom stripped down to the studs. Your shower area wasn’t built for a door like that. There might be adequate bracing to hold the long screws, or there might not. I think that steel studs as are often used aren’t enough to hold that weight. It’s possible that a builder might need to open the wall and add more support. If you use a lighter door that has bracing above the tip of the door, then there is no problem, and it is cheaper. But it is also sort of old-fashioned. These big class doors may weigh forty pounds, and they have 1/4” of clearance at the bottom, so if the supporting wood bows at all, the bottom of the door can scrape the lintel. Just things to consider.

If I had a glass shower door I would remove it, they are tempered glass which has been known to explode...... bad enough when you aren't taking a shower, but worse when you are..... I have a friend who was..... 10 years ago and she still has problems related to the damage, because a large sheet stayed together and hit the foot severing a tendon. Google exploding glass shower doors...or I'll post a photo if you aren't squeamish about blood.

If you want a simple an inexpensive fix get a spring loaded shower rod and an attractive shower curtain and your’re done.

Yes. We did. And love it. It was too cold in the winter without the door. Tried the curtain rod; kept falling and didn’t cover enough to keep the cool air out. The glass door works well and looks great. No mold issues; just leave the door open afterward. It dries out. We contracted through Lowe’s. They work with a local third party installer who did a terrific job.

I put in an expandable shower curtain rod and shower curtain. Very effective and much less expensive

There are several configurations for the Roman showers depending on model and age of home. What you described wouldn’t work for our shower. Our curtain hangs right in the opening to the shower and is attractive since it’s fabric with a design on it. The vinyl liner is hidden inside the shower on the back side of the fabric curtain.

So you can enclose the doorway in some manner but it is no longer a "Roman shower".

A "walk-in shower" never had a door or curtain.
That's why it was called a "walk-in shower!"

Most of the Villages' walk-in showers were L-shaped.
Maybe they're calling it a Roman shower now so they can charge more money!
