As far as I know, the only restaurant in or near The Villages that has a dress code is the Rose Plantation.

Casual, Casual, Casual.
If it's nice looking, no holes, pants/shorts above your hubby's butt................you're good.
Be comfortable.

Correct, Rose Plantation requires slacks and collered shirt for the dining room.
A few other high end restaurants in Tampa/Orlando also.

For "other establishments", the golf courses do not allow jeans. Also men's shirts have to have collars--no tees, sweatshirts, etc.

Yes, but don't even THINK about playing golf, even on a pitch & putt, without a collard shirt.

I was pleasantly surprised on my first time in TV on a lifestyle visit that even in the nicer restaurants most guys are wearing shorts and a tshirt or golf shirt. Some women seem to outpace the men quite a bit with dressing up but it's nice that no one seems forced to dress up.

Made it to the site and found the following. (Noted that denim pants are allowed - do those somehow differ from jeans?). Fun to have learnt new ways of spelling collared shirts in this thread. :-) Fascinating to learn that there's a category known as "fashion golf top". :-)
How To Dress
The following dress code is for all championship and executive golf courses, The Villages Golf Academy, driving ranges, warm-up nets and putting greens.
The acceptable golf attire includes, but is not limited to, the below:
Shoes must be worn at all times when on the golf courses. Tennis or golf shoes with soft spikes, or shoes with no more than a 1-inch heel, are mandatory.
Shorts or skirts must cover the majority of the thigh and may not be cut-off or have holes.
Denim pants are allowed.
No overall, tennis skirts, cut-offs, biking shorts, bathing suits or athletic exercise apparel.
Dress Code for Women
Fashion golf tops may be without a collar but should not expose the stomach and must have straps at least 2-inches wide.
Dress Code for Men
Shirts shall have a collar and sleeves. Turtle-necks or mock turtle-necks are acceptable. (Min. 1 1/4 inch collars.)

I wear a cap in the CC bars after golf because my hair gets badly matted from sweating, but never when I go out to eat.

I wear collared shirts and jeans as a minimum when I go to the nicer restaurants with tablecloths. Come on guys. Wear your big boy pants. If you’re just going from the car to the restaurant and back, the pants won’t make you hot. If you drive in a cart, then that’s different.
But, I also understand that big men are very inefficient at shedding heat, so I can see why they wear shorts.

Totally agree. I dislike seeing people wearing hats inside restaurants (other than a fast food establishment). Also appreciated the “old days” when collared shirts were required in country club restaurants. Added a touch of class. Oh well. Just another confirmation that I am old 😉

The Villages doesn't actually have "country clubs". They are just restaurants. The Developer should change the name to represent reality.

After living here about a year developed skin cancer that was successfully treated with mohs surgery and a year ago turned out another problem area was not cancer.
As a result I never leave my house without a cap. Not going to be out in the sun from car to restaurant without covering my head. As a result wear I go my cap goes.
Sorry if that disturbs anyone but not going to change this. Do not think your food will taste any different with me wearing a cap.

Make sure your husband removes his hat inside the restaurant unless he’s an illiterate redneck. Outside is ok though.

Shorts are fine everywhere you go. You won’t need jeans, it’s high 80’s-90 degrees every day! Lopez country club is a bit upscale but golfers eat there and they wear shorts. Enjoy your visit!

Really? You can’t remove your cap after you enter the restaurant? Perhaps the problem is deeper than your skin?

Well, I know at least two guys who keep their caps on all the time because they are ashamed of balding hair. They are lovely people with or without their caps, but they don’t feel it. I guess guys with the turbans don’t have this problem.

It used to be an etiquette NO-NO for men to wear a hat indoors. But, I think that rule has been phased out, except maybe for the military? I remember when I worked with Army guys who would carry their hat in their hand everywhere they went indoors. But as soon as they stepped outside, they immediately put the hat on or they would be considered out-of-uniform. Also, Army guys could never use an umbrella when they were in uniform.

It should be your concern, not ours.
Wearing a hat indoors, is just simple poor manners. If you choose to display ignorance of good manners, you're surely welcome to do that. If you're sitting at a restaurant and see folks pointing at you, there's your 1st guess as to why they're pointing.

While people may be seated who wear jeans or shorts or even caps, if you are going to one of the best restaurants in The Villages, why not dress up and show your respect for your date and for yourself and for the restaurant? When I have a date at a fancier restaurant, I wear dress slacks, a dress shirt, and a sport coat. In my experience, women appreciate a man who dresses well for an evening out and shows politeness and has good table manners. (If you are going to, say, Chili’s or TwoJay’s or something like that, wear whatever you like, and if you are going to listen to music or dance at a town square, dress for the weather.) If you are going to a symphony concert at The Sharon, dress up. If you are going to a rock concert, dress appropriately for a rock concert.

Because some people are ashamed of their hair line. It’s like some people are ashamed of their receding gums etc and grow facial hair. Women get implants etc. I think we should accept their fears.

If area restaurants have a dress code, you can find them by typing in the words "dress code" in Section 4c of The Villages Gourmet Club's Search Page (https://thevillagesgourmetclub.com/search.html), then hit SEARCH. Looks like they have info on 13 area restaurants.
Hope this helps.

Just happened across this Ken Jennings podcast on the subject. Hat Etiquette (Entry 571.1C1104) — Omnibus (https://www.omnibusproject.com/episodes/hat-etiquette-entry-5711c1104) JFK was brought up.
