IMHO, you will need to repair more than the popcorn ceiling. I am guessing you will need to replace a section of the ceiling with new drywall, you may need to replace the insulation and when all of this is done, match the popcorn ceiling finish. I am sorry I do not have any suggestions for the popcorn ceiling repair. There are several companies that can repair the ceiling, but I would make sure the original drywall is sound or replaced.

An additional thought, do a search on drywall repair, I know there is a lady that comes highly recommended, and I cannot remember her name.

If in the garage and the looks are not critical you might try to match the paint and if that does not work a more lengthy repair might be in order like a drywall section replace and repair?
