I don't see a problem, but I store all small items in large plastic bins. They are especially good for storing cans of paint and other liquids.

No worry on storing in garage, not attic. Also any cardboard draws insects, cockroaches. Make sure you store in plastic bins. Few years ago had a box usps delivered, it wasn’t sealed well. 2 German cockroaches crawled out. I open all my boxes in the garage first.

How do you know they were German? Did they come with passport? Asking for a friend,

I closed the box sealed it, called Justine from Deans. She came in 20 minutes of my call. Identify the critters, as German, said they probably hitched a ride no passport required (her pun).

She did however check the entire house drawers, nooks cabinets just in case. We had the pleasure of her experience for 12 years. Then we moved couldn’t bring her with us.

You should really move away from any type of plastic bags. Not only are they bad for the environment, they leach chemicals into any food that you store into them.

Don’t even get me started on the microwaveable heat and serve stuff (wrapped in plastic) that they sell in the stores.

I have a cabinet in my garage and store these as well as canned food, dog food, etc. with no problems.

So they were illegal immigrants living in your garage. The horrors!

Because we rent our place to tenants a few months of the year, we keep a locked metal cabinet in our garage against one wall. We leave all that stuff inside it plus garbage bags, aerosol stuff, extra cleaning supplies, etc. The only thing that we never put inside it is any sort of food even if it's dry food or cans.

I've stored all my plastic bags in the garage for years, I don't use wax paper so I don't know what effect it would have on that. What I do not store in the garage is can goods, the humidity will cause them to rust. I don't know how much can stuff I've thrown out.

It was their German accents that gave it away.

It’s routinely 100° in our garages in the summer if we drive in our hot cars and close the door. The melting point of aluminum is 1,221°. The softening point of Ziploc bags is 230°. Supposedly waxed paper has a melting point of 420°. I also keep extra toilet paper, paper towels, and Kleenex in the garage. I’ve seen a couple big roaches in the garage in two years, but they are the outside kind and seem befuddled and slow on a dry concrete floor. I just stomp them.

I have. I moved here into a Patio Villa 4 years ago, which is very limited in storage space, and was OVERLY stocked as ziplocks of all sizes were what I used to pack my work lunches. They have been stored in my garage for 4 years, which faces due west and receives the hot sun starting around 1P daily. We also buy the giant rolls of clear wrap from Costco and one of those was stored in the garage for 2 years and it, too, was fine. Foil is no problem at all as we also buy that in the huge restaurant sized rolls from Costco and it is in a cabinet in our garage, so when we need it we just step into the garage and roll of what we need. So, you are safe to store!

I also store my Christmas decorations in the attic and they are just fine. We keep a stick diagonally across the attic steps to keep air circulation. I’ve gone up into the attic when it’s in the upper 90s outside and the attic is cool with lots of breeze.

Ziplock bags, yes no problem. A can of Scrubbing Bubbles got too hot and blew its seal once, though.

I wouldn’t store canned goods or water bottles in the garage. It’s gets way too hot.

If you're concerned about the garage being too hot you can store stuff in the HVAC closet. It should be a good bit cooler in there. That's if you haven't filled it up already..

Just as a quick aside: I have been reorganizing all the items that I have in my garage (after a 14 year residence) and picked up one of the large plastic bins that had become disorganized over time. The rim that normally retains the cover broke off in my hands! I was able to gently remove the entire edge. That part of the bin must have been made of a different type of plastic as the main part because the rest of it was still extremely pliable. Just beware: some plastics deteriorate in the heat of our garages.

I was going to ask the same question, but I thought maybe it was their accent.

I would not store human canned foods nor pet canned foods in a hot garage. Way too hot for that and could cause food poisoning. I wouldn’t chance it.

I’m surprised about the wax paper, because I accidentally left some candles in a Christmas box and they melted into a mess.

I keep bottled water in garage on a shelf and have never had a problem. Canned goods are in kitchen pantry cabinet.
