Hello! We are staying here for a lifestyle visit, and I’m wondering if we can watch the television on the screened I. Pool/lanai during Quiet hours? What about smoking in the backyard if we are just talking in a regular voice and not whispering?

Watch TV but neighborhood does not have to hear it.

Smoke to your hearts content.

TV on the lanai shouldn’t be a problem.
If you are living next to me and smoking in the back yard, i certainly hope the smoke doesnt blow toward my biardcage/lanai - good way to not make friends.

Careful!! The DB (Decibel Police) start their rounds at 8 PM sharp every evening. They're often disguised as two little old ladies riding around the neighborhoods in golf carts (sometimes even carrying clipboards) but can be easily recognized by the whip antenna on the back of the cart. Their standard is "mourning dove at 10 yards". If you're making sounds in excess of that after 8 PM---well, expect a knock on your door.

Oh--and absolutely NO ARGUING (unless done in a whisper, but who does that??).

I'd post lookouts.

You are asking us to speak for your neighbors. This seems like a great opportunity to knock on their doors and introduce yourselves.

Both practices will bother some people…it’s a free country, and it’s your choice.

Smoke all you want. It’s you home for now. Sit on the lanai until 3 am if you want. As long as you’re not blaring music and screaming, you can do what you want. There isn’t a “ lights out” mandate anywhere.

If that's true, I'm glad I don't have any rentals or inconsiderate neighbors near me.

They are here for a week so not much opportunity to make friendships. When we rented for a month said hi but did our best to be out and about as much as possible to explore this huge place

The Villages close at 9pm. On the dot!

2100 hours (9 pm CakeEaters) is The Villages Midnight. Stores close down, events end, streets quiet down, sidewalks get rolled up.

Just watch out for the Tuck-In Police. No mint on your pillow if you stay out too late.

we rented a courtyard villa last summer. Homes are crammed in like sardines. My husband and I couldn’t even have a soft casual conversation without the next-door neighbor being annoyed and she would yell. Just because the town squares close at 9 PM, quiet hours are until 10 PM.

Are these serious questions or you are just kidding around? Are you from somewhere with no neighbors to consider?

The noise rules are in your deed restriction document. You can download the deed restrictions for your property from the website:

That is the problem. Some people like wind chimes, so they assume that others do also. Myself, and many others, absolutely hate them. If you hang one on your property, your neighbors who hate wind chimes, will be annoyed 24/7.

I regularly watch west coast College football games on my screened in lanai until 12-1am at a normal volume. I don't think my neighbors care since most are in bed by then.
