How much is the increase for only HULU?
A message appeared on the television screen and in my email that said there would be an increase to $95.99 a month which looked like a mistake until I decided it must include all the offerings in total. We do not have Disney or ESPN.
Even so, that cost caused me some sticker shock and I did not click to any of the remaining pages. At first, I thought it was a hack. That opening message could use some clarification.
I sometimes find HULU to be cumbersome to use. Is there anything better after giving up cable?

quick google search gets me to https://help.hulu.com/article/hulu-how-much-does-hulu-cost
where all the different options are listed with costs. You will find exactly what you need there depending on what services you have ordered.

Thanks. I rewrote my post probably after you saw it. We have not had HULU for long and their website has been aggravating from time to time.
It was the almost a hundred dollars a month that jumped out and surprised me. I thought, at first, it was a mistake of some kind or a hack. The announcement did not clarify HULU alone. I sometimes read too fast and I was concerned about clicking further. I will look now.
I need to sloooooow down. Thanks though.

The basic subscription of Hulu will be $9.99/month, or 99.99/year.
It sounds like the ad referred to this:
Hulu (No Ads) + Live TV, Disney+ (No Ads) and ESPN+ (With Ads)*: For $89.99/month***,
***Price will increase to $95.99/month on 10/17/2024.

I have YouTube TV. It is about $72 a month. It has 90% of the main cable channels. Biggest advantage is UNLIMITED DVR.
I tape every golf tournament,, college football game, Baseball game, NFL game, etc. that is on the channel. I don’t have time to watch all of it but it is there. Especially college football. Basic networks and big 10 and sec and ESPN is a lot of football!

If you know what channels you want, a good way to shop for streaming services is to use the website "suppose.tv". You can list all the channels you want on the left side, and it will tell you the cheapest way to get those channels.

Assuming you are asking about live TV options, I would also recommend YoutubeTV. I have recent experience with both Hulu+live TV and YouTube tv. The experience is not even close. YouTube TV is much better across the board. From channel guide to DVR to general tv watching. I had flipped back to Hulu a couple months ago (I had it years ago as well) to see about consolidating services. I lasted about 2 weeks before switching back. It my opinion it was a much worse watching experience. YMMV.

Note: it is widely known that that company generally rips people off. So many complaints. Try calling Dunston Plumbing out of Leesburg next time.

I have YouTube TV $82.60, in that price are a couple of added extras like HBO.
Of course, like many I also have Netflix.
I don't have enough time to watch all there is to offer.

Had Hulu when it was $55 a month. Since they are Disney owned, and pushing some very unpopular social conscripts, Disney has been loosing money hand over fist. So Disney is looking to make back some of the money they are losing across the spectrum.
When Hulu had a $15 a month price increase from $55, we dropped them like a hot potato.
Funny to see ANOTHER price increase in less than a year from Hulu. But not surprising.
What to do?
We switched to YouTube $75 a month. For now anyhow.
Since we don’t watch much regular tv, we may just ditch YouTube tv also, if they have another price increase.
Options after this? The 2 “stick” options. Roku & Amazon Fire stick tv.
If anyone has other options, would love to hear them. And not the regular cable providers, as last I checked were a bit more expensive than the options discussed here.

I have Hulu and disgusted with the price increase also. Put it on PAUSE for 12 weeks. I am going to use Haystack news for now which is free and has local and world news just not the same commentators as on major channels. Since I am a snowbird You Tube TV allows 90 days to watch it in another state after which if someone doesn't go to your home up north and turn on the TV to show them that you still have that home up north or they will switch me to Fl. That would be a hassle for me. I know it sounds crazy but true. BTW Hulu's price increase came to 93.99 in Il. Lower.....than Fl. I watch Netflix a lot. Between ROKU and a smart TV in both homes I will do fine.

Sling is another option. Either blue or orange plan are pretty cheap and each is focused toward a different kind of viewer. Even the combined price of both plans is lower than the other main options. One of them does offer local channels, but I don’t believe it is ALL of them. So that would be something to check if you must have a certain network. Or use an antenna for locals.

Watch for Black Friday specials and summer promotions.
I have one year of HULU (with commercials ) for $3.99 a month. I’ll drop it for awhile… then maybe pick it up sometime in the future.
Overall, I also prefer YTTV. I subscribe during football season and winter months. By May everything is reruns again so I drop it.
Netflix…Peacock on a special….always plenty to view in the summer.
I know some people don’t like moving subscriptions around, but I love playing with the technology

Hi there,
We are having the same problems with Hulu & now with Netflix 😵
Hulu, was always disconnecting and requesting for us to go thru the whole recovery mode..
We put up with this silly game since we had Hulu in our phones, tablets, and TVs.
However, little by little it kept creeping up in cost. When we first had Hulu it cost us $4.95 I think in 2007 or so. Last year they were asking for $15.95!
That is about 16 years of being a loyal customer… However, we really didn’t use Hulu much because it seemed like they had mostly reruns of shows we loved to watch. In addition, Hulu’s constant login verification. So we drop them and have Not miss Hulu At All!!!
Netflix is next because they got rid of our tier price of $9.99 and now it is either $6.99 with commercials or $15.99 to have the same services we had at the $9.99 monthly level.
Our solution:
1- Our Amazon Membership comes with access to Prime Video. In Prime Video there are tons of options to watch live TV, download apps to watch shows, mostly with no ads.
2-YouTube Live again for $15.95, but the options are endless to Movies, TV shows, Live TV, Music, News, you name it, you will find it on this app. For less than any cable subscription anywhere.
3- All new Smart TVs have access to channels and apps, but we discovered the updates sometimes stop working on our 2016 LG OLED.
Easily fixed with an Amazon Cube.
What we are saying is…. There are TONS of options after Hulu & Netflix and We don’t have suffer their idiotic demands.
Hope you find a good fix for your specific needs.Have a wonderful day ☺️☺️

You tube tv is great and cheaper
YTTV is $73/month
Hulu is $83/month and adds Hulu streaming on-demand, Hulu original series, Disney+
For just live TV the prices seem comparable. If you watch any of the Hulu or Disney shows then the prices favor Hulu.
For live TV, channel selection, DVR capability, and ease of use should weigh more than price alone.
Hulu Live seemed buggy when we had it. We now have basic Hulu, added Disney+ separately, and have YTTV+Sunday Ticket through football season.

For us, $72.99 -> $80.13 after taxes. I believe the taxes are 7% Florida sales tax plus some amount of Wildwood tax on services over internet. I'm not really sure the Wildwood portion should apply to me since I am not in the incorporated portion but I'm haven't tried to push that yet.

Paramount plus, appleTV, Netflix, all around $10, except Paramount comes with Walmart Plus, and of course we cannot do without Amazon Prime. At least Amazon quit interrupting the free to me movies with advertising.

A lot more expensive!
I just did the math, and replacing my Xfinity Ultimate TV service, which includes 185 channels, with the YoutubeTV streaming service ($82 per month), would not save me any money at all. This is because of the Xfinity contract discount and the 3-product discount, on a 2-year contract. I have their Internet service, cable TV, and a digital landline phone, and 2 cable boxes. Am I missing something?

$82.60 for YouTube TV
$40.00 for internet access
No land line, don’t need it
$30 for 2 cellphones with unlimited voice, text, and data
Total telecommunication cost for the 2 of us:
$153.00 per month
