The Internet had The Top 50 greatest opening guitar riffs of all time.

I though about the answers before looking at the list.

My top 5 were -Satisfaction-Johnny B. Goode- Layla- / Sweet Home Alabama,
and Hotel California.

My first four made the top ten but Hotel California was not included.

Were the Eagles given an injustice? What are your top 5?

Smoke on the water, and Pretty Woman were on the list. As was Michael Jackson's Beat it. I believe that was Eddie Van Halen doing the guitar break

Gotta add "Day Tripper" and maybe "Fun Fun Fun", although that was is very derivitive of "Johnny B Goode". Also "Sunshine of Your Love".

Couple more a little less "mainstream": "Don't Fear the Reaper" Blue Oyster Cult; "Funk #49" The James Gang (featuring Joe Walsh of The Eagles on lead). Also "Tobacco Road" by the Nashville Teens.

Another vote for Guns n Roses "Sweet Child".

Do you know that Slash (GnR guitarist on that) is also a Smooth Jazz guy?
