Not sure what you are hoping for with this post.

Here is another long thread about Quantum Internet (https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/villages-florida-general-discussion-73/quantum-internet-351592/index4.html?highlight=price+life) including their odd definition of "for life."

Sounds like your special offer time has ran out, not unusual around here. Xfinity does it, dish does it, century link does it raise prices after two year contract ran out.

You don't say what your speed is, so it's difficult to say whether it is still a good deal (price) for what you are getting. What you have on your side is the fact that you clearly live in a village that has multiple high speed providers available. If one becomes too expensive, then you have the freedom to get a good deal from a competitor. Down the road you will have the same flexibility when your next provider starts jacking up the prices.

These companies count on people not being willing to move around when they increase their prices. You should be. One or two days of inconvenience is worth it.

No. There is no contract with CenturyLink/QuantumFiber. What the OP was referring to impacted myself and others. For most, perhaps all, there was a promise of “one price for life”, sometimes verbally and perhaps in writing for others. In my case, it was verbal, which, of course, has no meaning. The speed was typically 200 megabits per second, up and down. An expectation was set that the price was fixed until a change in the service was made. QuantumFiber is now more careful with the wording in their offer. It is what it is and I continue to use them because the price is still reasonable at $40 per month and the service is reliable. I would encourage those with access to QuantumFiber to use their service.

Often, if you call and indicate you are likely to cancel, they have another special deal which will lower your costs back down.

My problem is with Exfinity I canceled service moths ago went to Spectrum they keep telling me if I don't pay my bill they will cancel my service, emails phone calls nothing gets through to them, they were probably hoping I would not delete them from the auto payment. I guess the next step is a complain to the SEC

If there's a store you can go to, a visit asking them for a deal might get you back to the $30. XFINITY has been receptive to that request for me when I go in. Worth the hour or so wait.

In St. Charles, we don't have choices. We can purchase Xfinity or Century Link which locked up too many times. Paying Xfinity $105 for internet ONLY! And yes, faster speed than I need, but that was the best deal according to them. It is so frustrating that we don't have options!

Have you looked into one of the 5G options? T-Mobile works well for us but I believe Verizon and maybe AT&T have offerings as well.

There isn’t a store. You can call them up but that has been largely ineffective with the neighbors I have talked to.

We’ll. Then don’t pay the bill, service is cancelled, problem solved . very simple. What complaint would you have for the SEC? You cancelled, they are no longer being paid. So??.

Mike I just went thru this issue with Quantum. I spoke with them & said I had price for life, the company rep walked me thru my online account and I changed my payment from auto pay using a credit card to auto pay & paying thru my bank account. I’m receiving a credit for my $10 over payment & retained my price for like. My internet speeds are 500 upload / 500 download @ $50 per month. Hope this helps, unfortunately it is difficult to reach them by phone.

Normal increase. Quantum is by far the best provider. Change and you will be sorry.

This isn't a bad idea, especially for those (myself included) who really only have xfinity as an option for hardwire broadband. At the very least, it allows you to come back as a new customer to get new customer deal in a month or two (if the OTA service isn't doing it for you). That is, if you can't get any satisfaction going to store and/or on the phone.

I will switch from Spectrum and gladly pay $40 rather than $99 up $30 in 2 years.

They are taking you - $75 for 1.2GB for past 3.5 years from XF.

I use the "other" fiber company. They are a bit more at $65/mo, but it's 1 Gb speed. So far, they've been very reliable and appear to be the default installation in new builds. Our house was preinstalled and functional even before we went to settlement.

I switched to Quantum Fiber from CenturyLink. Both are owned by same company. Just checked download at 520 mbps and upload at 420 mbps. Bought it on sale in April 2024 at $50 for 500 mbps for life. Hope it stays that way.

I spoke with them also, stating their website still states price for life and they kept me at the $50 auto pay on credit card. Took two calls though.

Live in buttonwood don’t think we can get anything but xfinity/Comcast. Pay lots for triple package - landline, tv and internet. Liked spectrum better when I lived south of 466A

There isn’t a store. You can call them up but that has been largely ineffective with the neighbors I have talked to.Unless it just recently closed (it didn't) there is an Xfinity Store next to Starbucks on Rolling Acres at 441 at the "Best Buy" mall area. You can also make an appointment online and not have to wait "hours."

Also, you can simply cancel your account and start a new one ONLINE (not in person and not on the phone) if you have another person in your household. Been doing that for 30+ years back and forth between my wife and I between Xfinity, Verizon FIos, Dish Network and DirectTV. Which reminds me I am due again in January which would be my 4th "new account" in 7 years with Xfinity since we moved down here.

EDIT: They always drive me crazy trying to "retain me" whenever I cancel. I have learned that by telling them I am moving to Canada or Costa Rica or onto the Space Station they just drop the sales pitch.

So happy you posted that. Our relatives in other states (retired in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Kentucky do NOT believe us that we pay $93 PLUS taxes for a total of $105 for internet. ALL of them live in senior retirement communities that offer the residents $25-$30 internet. Maybe the villages is large enough we could have one of those kind of coop type of group prices ?

Brilliant. Safe to assume you use your own modem and router to avoid dropping off and picking up their equipment every time?

Just received an email today mine going from $50 to $60 after 1 year

You better check becasue there is no package at $60 offered by Quantum fiber unless you added something.

500 MBs and 1GBs speeds are now very common and will be common for years to come. Sure there may be faster speeds offered some time in the future but here in the Villages unless you have some special case, 500 MBs is plenty fast. That said, I don't expect any rate increases from Quantum since they don't provide TV content with the every increasing franchise fees that get passed on to their customers like the cable companies.

Quantum and some of the cable companies were in a pricing war last year and offered 200-300 Mbs service for $30 but that's gone now and the standard is 500 Mbs for $50 and 1GBs for $75 (Centric fiber offers 1GBs for $65/month).

If you look at pricing for internet across the country, these are very good prices. No Tax, No Contract, No fooling around trying to get a better rate when you "special deal" expires. Just get it and forget it and enjoy.
