Bummer. I’ve only played S.O. once so I’m testing my memory. Isn’t hole #5 the one with the turnpike on the right of the fairway and the massive power transmission station past the green? That’s very poor planning to have to build a road through a golf course well after its completion. I’m guessing the road is needed for access to the power station, but who knows?

This seems very unusual to build a road across a finished golf course fairway. Where does it start and end?

It’s a ToTV ‘peer reviewed’ post.....so it has to be true!

Where does the road go to?

I think this is the fairway on #5.

From where to where???? I'll believe it when I see it. The substation, microwave tower, and maintenance area have roads to them already.

Is it a temporary easement right of way issue?

Looks like there is room behind the green.

Will enable a road rash and perhaps 20 extra yards. ;)

Where did you get the information? I can’t find anything online about it. Except for your post.

Maybe we can hit the new road, bounce off the building and land on the green. Otherwise doesn't look like it would interfere with golf play.

ME, I'm the source! It's going to the Cell Tower antenna.

You are wrong, there is no road to the tower, but there will be now

Here's the new road!

I can somewhat confirm this. I played Southern Oaks yesterday. The greenskeepers were marking that area (as shown in your satellite image) with blue paint. When I asked why, he said they needed to put in a new path for access to the radio tower.

What’s the problem? You’ll get a better roll on the pavement

Are they putting in a road or a cart path? Are there going to be cars or trucks driving out there?

Not exactly semantics when one says a ‘road’ and another says a ‘path’!

It sounds like what I'd call an "access way" for tower maintenance. Not an entirely novel idea, albeit not the best location for it. Considering the access way is likely to be used about 3 times a year, it's probably not too onerous.

Although, for a lot of the players I see in TV, it might impact their "roll up approach shots".

If it is on hold, I would assume that that they are doing it later.

If the road was used three times, it sounds like the road has been built. So how has the project been put on hold?

No the road hasn't been built, just the Antenna workers have just driven across the fairway.

Yes, and when it is built the idiot maintenance workers with headphones on and no hard hat will just drive across without looking as usual. Hope their worker's comp policy is up to date.
