Area churches filling Christmas shoeboxes for underprivileged children, Villagers volunteering to tutor local children, "honey-do" programs where Villagers with physical handicaps preventing them from doing basic things like shopping, yardwork and light maintenance can depend on the help of other Villagers to do those things, etc., are far more characteristic of The Villages than this piece of garbage, but unfortunately people click on the garbage first. Sleaze sells. People helping people often doesn't.

I was listening to this video but there was so much bull **** in it that I had to stop half way. The narrator often confuses the whole of Sumter county with The Villages portion, not realizing that TV is actually made up of other counties too. He takes 5 or 6 case out of a population of 150,000 to try to illustrate as a common occurrence… etc etc. it is HE that is looking for a confrontation. I would guess paid by a competitor?

TV, with its 150K pop., has had documentaries, movies, videos and local ‘fish wraps’ creating similar narratives and editorials for years. Yet at least here on this forum, it’s the same dozen or so that comment on it and create the ‘buzz’...where is the outrage from the super majority of Villages residents? It doesn’t exist because content ‘creators’ like this know their audience. I fall into the super majority of....who cares! I can't help but notice that the video on the cart path seems as tho the driver is drunk. He keeps swerving into the bushes. Then, when coming to a stop sign, he goes right thru without even slowing down. And some of the video isn't even in The Villages. It's on Hwy 44. When describing the cart paths, he has it all wrong. He obviously doesn't understand round-abouts and the need for golf carts to stay off of them. There is so much more wrong with his description of The Villages, I can't even list everything here.

Definitely a lot of made up information. I looked into his channel and he states this is for entertainment. He thinks this is funny. Not very funny to us who live here. But now he is getting a lot of clicks on his You Tube channel since someone posted it and we are curious to see what he said. So guess it works.

I watched it about 3/4 through Then fast forwarded to the end. Basically it was long and boring. He was right about one thing, in my opinion, that people drive too fast and dangerously here in TV Land. He was talking about cars, but golf carts are egually dangerous and speeding in residential neighborhoods. He followed one car and filmed his own speedometer to prove that excessive speeding was going on. I have seen Villagers involved in 3 fights in my 10 years here. One I helped break up at a basketball game. That is probably less than I have seen in mixed neighborhoods. Since coming to The Villages, I have encountered some abrasive and pushy males, which i would have probably wanted to fight with IF I was sixteen years old. I have also encountered some self-absorbed know-it-alls with superiority complexes. But, I guess those are everywhere and come in ALL ages.
.........The author of this piece seemed to want to PROVE that mixed age neighborhoods are better and safer than over 55 neighborhoods. His case could have been better made if he had actual statistics to back up his claim. But, how could you get comparable neighborhoods to make that comparison?

The Villages is advertised as a peaceful tranquil LAW ABIDING unique place to live. Many people, not just myself, have commented that the Village IDEAL life has become LESS than ideal. 5 years ago I would notice occasional Lawn Manglers driving over the speed limits and pulling their LARGE, difficult to STOP TRAILERS. And it seemed like about 15% of the Golf Carts had their accelerator control jacked up to 30 plus MPH. Today almost 100% of the lawn manglers go 40 MPH through the posted 20 MPH SUPPOSEDLY quiet residential streets. Personally, I cut my own grass both for exercise and by reducing the number of LAWN MANGLERS, I may be saving someones life in an accident. So, this is one REASON why I would appreciate MORE Police presence in our neighborhoods.
