Hi,
We are in a manufactured home. We want to put in new kitchen flooring and perhaps turn the lanai into a "room". We went to a couple of flooring stores and they didn't know anything about limitations, if there are any, in manufactured homes. Now we're wondering if we need specific people to work on our home. If so, who can you recommend for floors or home additions?
thx

Most manufactured homes are built just like other homes, just on a steel frame to move it to the site. Anyuone who does flooring should do it the same way they do in any home. Nothing really different.

if i recall reading here, somewhere...if the lanai is to be transformed with glass that you will likely be adding taxable living space to your home...if that matters.

Thanks. Good to know. We were told that we couldn't put tile in the kitchen of our home.

Sure you can put tile in the home, backerboard over plywood, then tile with thin set adhesive, you can put any floor you want in there.

Yup! The tile job will only be as good as what's underneath it. If it's done the way Sparky suggests, you should be fine.

One other point to add on: Once the existing flooring has been taken out, check the sub-floor/plywood to make sure it's good and sturdy. This would be the time to replace any pieces that are weak.
