Hi there!
I have noticed the members making post and replies show as a "veteran" member, "sage" member, or "junior" member etc. Where do I find all the categories and when a member is changed from category/type to another?
Let's hope curiosity does NOT kill the cat!

The category changes as your post count increases. I don't remember the numbers associated with each level.

It’s just the way the post counts have worked automatically since the beginning of TOTV. It’s just about the numbers. The names mean nothing more than that.

(Just edited out my morning’s long story about my own TOTV history. If you read it, thanks for reading. But once in a while, I decide to make it a short run just for the exercise.)

Thanks so much! Just curious! I was thinking it was based on time as member, but you know how assuming gets us in trouble :_)

That is number of relevant posts, non repeated subjects, topics, etc. LOL

Thanks - I was thinking it had to do with how long a person had been a member.

It's kind of like participation trophies for posters, personal prestige for those that need a bit of an ego boost as participation increases. .

Just more psychobabble. We all get them whether we want them or not.

Comments under posts count as posts too. I’ve never made a post myself, but have obviously commented under a post more than 500 times.

That statement itself was post #10 in this thread. You aren't making a comment, you are posting in a thread. Any time you hit the "Submit Reply" button you are posting in a thread.

Everyone has an opinion, here in TV probably more so, and the more opinionated the more posts/ replies.

Nothing else between 2,500 and 50,170 so I'm guessing no, nothing higher.

I saw an explanation for that one time. It had to do with a very long-time member who was around when this board was first started. That name is a one-off.

Interesting. Personally I'd rather have sage.

Forget Parsley or Sage. I would rather have Rosemary or Thyme.:)

I've never started a thread, but I don't need to. There are always lots to chose from. Just hit reply and let it fly. Just remember Monty Python's the argumentclinic. "If you want to have an argument, you must take up a contrary position". Have fun.

Unfortunately, there are many here who have nothing better to do with their time than sit behind their computer on a message board. I kind of feel sorry for them. There is so much to see and do around here. If you click on a member and look at how many posts per day, you will see. Those are the ones I ignore. I mean seriously, how can you be handing out advice on life in the villages when you spend your day in your house on a message board? Just click their screen name, and click on stats. We even have newbies who cruise in and feel like they need to catch up with the people who have 1000 posts. Slow down, it's not a contest.

My name goes back to the beginning of TOTV when I had a recurring routine with one of the original owners. He was also the admin and he changed my name as one of the little running jokes we used to play out on screen. It was fun. It was like Point/Counterpoint done with silly conversations. Fun! Remember fun?
It was the other owner’s idea to assign these ridiculous names based on numbers.
As I recall, I wrote a post about how dumb I thought the idea was — written as part of my usual banter with the owner I liked. (TOTV was sold for the first time in 2011 and changed.)
Anyway, back to my name. Soaring Eagle was put on the list, along with Sage. When I wrote my opinion on the dumb idea of these names, my banter buddy, behind the curtain, turned me into Soaring Parsley, as a play on Sage and Soaring. Like I said, we had fun. (I think Rosemary and Thyme were under consideration, too.) :)
I remain,
Soaring Parsley

Yep. More mentally stimulating than watching television, and as much as I'd like to, I don't have the energy to play golf and pickleball 14 hours a day.

Soaring Parsley was a good choice - funnier. Soaring Rosemary or Soaring Thyme just would have been mysterious.

Geez, all this time I have been assuming some of these posters were a "him" and not a "her", or vice versa. I sometimes try to picture the member based on their post name, and I bet I'm way off sometimes LOL! 🤣
