Are you referring to the Walmart Neighborhood Market in Sarasota Plaza at 270 Heald Way? If so, it is not on 446A or 466A.

I tend to avoid that gas station all the time. They don't have enough pumps.

Agree but they usually have the lowest cost gas other than Sam’s or BJ’s.

Kinda reminds me of the "famous" NY/NJ Bread & Milk video because whenever the word "snow" was in a news report the whole world went nuts. Don't get me wrong, this storm can and will be dangerous but it still will be over in under 24hrs. FWIW, SAMCLUB has no toilet paper OR water. Went there today for our normal shopping stuff and there was someone at the door announcing "NO WATER NO TOILET PAPER" as you walked in.

Had a Dr appointment in Leesburg yesterday. Filled up the tank. No line, same price as Walmart.

The more things change, the more they remain the same. Back UpNort, we saw this phenomenon a day or two before a blizzard. "Storm rush", one of the HyVee managers called it. People waiting until the last minute to get prepared, then a surge of panic-buying meant the stores were scenes of near-chaos.

MUCH easier (and a lot cheaper) to maintain a state of readiness at all times. We're set: car and golf cart full of gas; generator likewise (and run up three days ago to make sure); plenty of water, TP and food on hand; emergency kit well-stocked, plenty of flashlights and plenty of batteries for the flashlights, six gallons of cabernet sauvignon wine finished and ready for bottling, etc. etc. Last-minute stuff will include bringing the patio plants inside, filling the bathtub with water, and making sure all chargeables such as iPads, phones, etc. are charged up.

Won't be fun, but we're ready.

Sam's Club was completely out on Saturday... but Amazon brought me some on Sunday morning.

There’s still nitwits among us who cause more issues than what is necessary. You are 2 hrs away from the coast. Yes, you’ll get winds like the rest of the state but the sky isnt falling.

Well, it Takes a Panic'd Shopper
To
Know a "normal" shopper, who may need aspirns, bandages to change a dressing for their spouse, or any # of things they choose to purchase.

Most of US are packed out to the gills in our homes, but we'll be lectured by those who see themselves as so much smarter than the "average" bear.
Jump back!

THAT'S the Grrrreat thing about living in America.

We Are Still FREE to do what ever the (fill in the curse word) we choose.

Can never figure out people that are never prepared and wait for the last minute and panic. Keep your vehicles above 3/4 at all times. It’s not just a hurricane that could bite you in the a@$. Of course it may just be a typical thinning of the herd occurence.

It's not about preparing, it's about panicking. What is someone preparing for when they run out and buy eight months' worth of toilet paper or pumping four gallons of fuel into a 3/4 full tank?

People panic and feel they have to do something. Buying gas is something. Buying TP because they remember the 2020 panic is something. It doesn't have to make sense, just do something!

Me, I'm heading to ABC because stores may be closed for two days and I only have one day of mixer left.

I agree with heading to ABC while they still have a good supply. As far as topping off your gas tank, if, and that's a big if, electricity is out for a few days your car has AC and it will be a relief to let it run every once in awhile to cool off and you will also have enough fuel to go back to ABC once this is over.

Unless you are leaving, why do you need a full tank of gas??

Got gas at 7-11 at Colony Plaza this morning, pulled up and filled up and NO lines! As I passed Walmart Market they were backed up to the adjacent streets, I guess 4 cents cheaper is worth waiting in line that long !

For the past almost 17 years here, I found that prior to a severe storm coming, it’s easier to go off property ( like Wildwood or Fruitland Park ) and fill up!

Only 4 cents cheaper than the 7-11 across the street in the Colony Plaza !

I agree, but I am also concerned that the Walmart has no defined traffic pattern. Cars approach the pumps from both directions and it creates a possible collision risk.

Technically it’s .14 cent cheaper with +. Wait for gas at Disney 10 minutes last evening.

If critical, the Turnpike Plazas have priority to keep their tanks replenished.

Why are people filling up only to put their cars in the garage ?
