Thursday there was an incident at the water treatment plant in Leesburg involving 2 million gallons of untreated waste. Can that affect the Villages?

Spilled into Lake Griffen. There was little or no consequence because it was caused by the Milton storm water overflow. The sewage was diluted to a point where the wastewater plant ordinary discharge water quality was probably met. The plant likely dischages class D water on a regular basis.

Leesburg's operating permit prescribes "advanced secondary standards". As I'm sure you know, Class D water does not have pathogens removed and I believe there's no standard at all for turbidity nor coliform.
