Parking a car for extended time of a month

we have a courtyard villa and for the next month we have a visitor, and it does not work out with a visitor parking his car at our villa, our neighborhood does not have visitor parking, we have considered going to another villa neighborhood that has visitor parking and parking his car there, are there any restrictions about that? I have seen complaints about car setting for years in different areas with expired license plates in the Villages is not doing anything about it.. these plates obviously are current.
We have also considered parking his car on the street at Lake Sumter, Spanish Springs, or Brownwood, all of these are public streets, and there is no restricted parking signs that I can find.
I have also considered going down to Brownwood and parking it in the hospital parking lot.
I do not know if there are any restrictions about any of these areas, however, there is a difference between restrictions and the enforcement of those restrictions. I’m just looking for ideas.

In CYVs parking all over the place, park it in yard, on street and end of street. Some have bricked in their yard to make parking lot. Some have painted driveways and refuse to park in their driveway. Some have three cars two golf carts and can only get one golf cart in garage. Rules? Not to worry. :highfive:

My regional rec center allows parking if you fill out a permit-name of owner, license plate, make of vehicle, etc. At Everglades, they have RV's, moving vans, etc park over by the postal station, not up by the Rec center. There may be time limit and they have a limited number of permits available; once, during spring break time, they were all out of permits, and I asked if anyone would be climbing onto the hood of the F350 to see what the permit said, and they said, no. You could always move it to another rec center if it exceeded the time limit. If its just a nondescript passenger car, likely wouldn't catch anyone's attention.

thank you for the reply, this is what I was looking for sometimes definitely a difference between restrictions and enforcement, Thing that concerns me someone sees if they are continuously at 2 o’clock in the morning and report it then I would want to be on the record of doing things above board. We had to do this last year and found someone on our Village FB group to let us store our car at in their garage for $100 for a month. Was very easy and they gave us the garage opener code to retrieve our car at the end of the month.

Town Squares restrict parking in some areas during special events. Maybe park the car in the large areas located behind the shopping area.

you can go to the nearest rec center and get a permit to park there, but for how long, I don't know. The permit must be placed in the windshield, so community watch doesn't have the car towed.

Be aware that there is no security or security cameras at the rec centers and postal stations.

I thought the streets in TV were public streets and you could park on them as long as there weren't any No Parking signs. As for Walmart, we regularly go 'Wallydocking' when traveling in our RV. Wallydocking: Boondocking or dry camping in a Walmart parking lot. I have seen cars and even an RV towed after weeks in the same spot, though. I would still move your friends car a couple of feet every couple of days so that it doesn't look abandoned.

I wouldn't leave it parked for a month without starting it an driving it 15 miles or so once a week. There's a good chance it won't start or run correctly after being parked for a month

Please don’t park his car in another Villa neighborhood. Guest parking is a premium during snowbird season and you’re just transferring your problem to them. Regional rec centers and the town squares have plenty of extra parking.

Courtyard Villas HAVE no street parking for safety reasons. The streets are narrow, the turns are tight and fire trucks can not maneuver easily. Some CYV have visitor parking area but most do not. Some owners think the Deed Restrictions do not apply to them. Read your documents before you buy or pay for towing and storage.

I would check on the permitted rec center parking first. If that doesn't work thenI would park it somewhere legal of course and move it once or twice a week. Yes, it's inconvenient but it would probably help with the chance of being considered abandoned. Pay no mind to FredMitchell, I would have to guess he's probably classified as "That neighbor"

My grandson bought a truck while visiting FL and us in the Villages. I checked with my Rec Ctr and he was allowed to park the truck at the Rec Ctr parking lot while he was here. The requirement was to fill out a form and then put a notice on the windshield to let Security know it was permitted to be there. Grandson was here for a little over a week. We were so pleased that the Villages allowed it. Very nice!

The information you’re getting here no matter how well intended are opinions.

For public street parking, contact the police department having jurisdiction over the area in question.

“Parking Signs” may not be posted like it might be in your home neighborhoods “up north”.

Case in point , if your rental is within the City of Wildwood, there is no street parking allowed , sign or not .

Don’t believe that ? Call the police department to find out.

we used Ft knox self storage on duck lake rd in lady lake. I just looked at their web site and they have spots for cars for 52.50 per month. Never had an issue. It is off rolling acres rd behind the old sun newspaper plant.

Agree. Park where there’s no restrictions or time limits and you should be good. Renting a spot is ridiculous for a visitor. Or leave the car in a non restricted spot for a couple of days and move it to another if you get a chance. If no restrictions? There’s no violations. Go for it!!!

There is no street parking in TV neighborhoods within the city of Wildwood at any time of the day (except service vehicles). Police will ticket and tow.

I think the signs that say "No Resident Parking" are misleading, (tho they aren't in your area, for some reason.) It seems they should say "guest parking", if anything. I asked several people before finding one who knew no Resident parking meant. I see visitors park in front of the house if who they're visiting short time. Hours. No one walks from the area mentioned above. Neighbors don't seem to mind. If residents need overflow parking, it may be appropriate to use the unused "No Resident Parking" areas, so they don't have to park on the street or on their lawn. My thoughts.

If your vehicles are already in the garage, then there is plenty of room in your drive for their vehicle. If not, why..,garage too full, too many vehicles, etc.?
