What's with all the piles of sticks and palm trash?

The rumor going around is that the Developer or CDD or somebody is waiting for FEMA to clean it up for them.

That's BS, right? Who would be so sleazy as to call on the Federal Government to pay for yard trash that you would have had to clean up, anyway? That's almost as sleazy as leaving a pit bull (or polo pony) outdoors in a hurricane!

What neighborhood has the yard trash? I have seen normal pickup in mine.

If you mean the storm debris then cleanup is part of what the FEMA funds are for.

Anyone who knows about horses knows they are safer outdoors in a hurricane than in a barn where the building could fall in on them.

As I understand it, the District has contracts for debris cleanup. The contractors are not exclusive to TV and since there are tons of the stuff all over Florida one would need to know the conditions of the contracts to fully understand where we stand. As far as FEMA, I suggest the District has money in their budget to pay for the cleanup contracts and both the County and The District will appply for relief from FEMA to help mitigate their (and our) costs. An exception is the Boardwalk, the District signed up to do the study and entertain bids but the actual replacement was not in the budget. I also believe the debris cleanup here is pocket change when you look at the devastation throughout FL, NC, SC and TN and fires in CA and what they will be paying out. This was a very big storm and expectations are, IMO, are way out of line with the scope.
