We have tried many places for a thanksgiving day meal and was wondering what other people think the best place to go is? We are looking mainly around the villages and leesburg area. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

All steak and beef houses were included. Roadhouses included.
Cat Houses as well if beef is on the menu.

The Texas Roadhouse in Lady Lake is very popular.

We’re going, with some friends, to Nancy Lopez. I looked at their menu and it looked pretty good.

We order ours from Fresh Market. Very little prep and you get to have leftovers. We’ve also gone to Orange Blossom country club.

Mission Inn in Howey in the Hills is by far the best around. Expensive but worth every cent. A quick 35 minute drive from TV

Harbor Hills has a buffet for $47.00. It is very good, have tried it a couple times. Just a short drive away.

Expensive?
I would say that $70 PER PERSON is OVER THE TOP !
For Mother’s Day it was $90 PER PERSON !!!
How much can an average person eat in one sitting ?

My wife makes the best Turkey dinner, so we love Thanksgiving in our own home!

Wherever you make reservations make sure to ask if they're serving actual turkey or turkey roast.
Some places last year were serving turkey roast, which is garbage. I know, I just retired from a large food dist, I sold to independent restaurants in Indiana.
The only accounts I had that bought turkey roast were low cost all you can eat buffets and some caterers.
Any quality restaurant should be serving actual turkey.

As most places serve cornbread stuffing, count me out. I am thankful that I can eat what I prefer on (and long after) Thanksgiving day. Hot chicken sandwich w/ gravy, smashed potatoes & more gravy, green beans and a bit of cranberry sauce. Don't forget the jello salad.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Hot chicken sandwich? Should you not be eating a hot turkey sandwich?
Isnt there some sort of a rule to eat sweet potatoes on turkey day and thereafter?

Not in my book. I checked, just to be sure. I can take turkey sometimes, but cornbread stuffing is a definite no for me. Also on my list are other favorites, like "candied" yams/sweet potatoes, lime beans, liver and onions.

Sweet potatoes are great ANY time of the year - good nutrition and reasonably priced. Cranberry sauce is excellent also.

Bad day to go out to eat, along with Mother's Day. Restaurants are only interested in turning over their tables for the next group of unsuspecting dinners. We went to Wolfgang Puck a few years ago (pre Covid) and for $26.00 we got a Swanson tv Dinner. Don't expect much more anywhere you go.

Calve's liver, streaky bacon, cabbage, mashed and creamed potatoes, with a thick onion gravy, is one of the greatest meals. :mmmm:

Isn't there a rec center where TV residents can bring a pot luck "something or other" and all meet to share their favorite dish and spend some time together? Has this ever been done here? I know there are logistics, but there are lots of us to pull this off. Any ideas?

That is such a good idea, so there must be several reasons why its never been done and can't be done. Perhaps no one wants to be in charge ( i.e. work) on Thanksgiving ?

Good in principle but in the world we live do not think we would want to eat what someone we do not know would make. Sad.

If there were no veal lovers, it would be beef liver only.
Lamb liver is nice as well. Baaaaaa!

No, that has never happened.
Many Villagers do not want to cook anymore. They are retired!
At all the potlucks I have been to, most of the contributions are purchased from a store, not home made. For a Thanksgiving potluck, you would get lots of store-bought pumpkin pies, and no turkey.

Correct!
The Sunday turkey dinner at Cane Garden is turkey roast, not a bird. You can get the same thing at the grocery store deli.

Best place, eat at home. Why in the world would you take the time to write that when you knew your answer had NOTHING to do with what was asked? If you had no suggestion to offer as to where to eat out the normal action would have been to scroll by. Di you think your answer was amusing?

The OP was seeking answers to a specific question. Your comment is unrelated to that question.

There are many clubs and neighborhood groups that arrange potluck dinners at rec centers all year. You just need to reserve a rec center room.
