Not sure if that location is a good one, considering that Earth Fare didn't last long. Perhaps wait till the snowbird season is in full swing to see what happens. I have heard them doing some radio ads lately.

They have higher prices than I generally pay. They have a great selection for most everything, however, I only buy used clubs, and/or old mark down models., So it's a frequent visit to see what used clubs they have. I then adjust the shaft length and put on a new grip sized for me. . . I rent their hitting bays up here sometimes, $25 per hour, with data printouts.

Golf equipment is one of the biggest scams around. I don't play golf anymore, but a few years ago, my neighbor invited me to play nine holes. He plays every day and has very expensive clubs, but I beat him by 2 strokes with my $50 set of clubs and I hadn't played in about 20 years.

Yes & No.

There are advancements with clubs..................not annually (some golfers chase these changes), but definitely every ten years.

I laugh at the Pro V-1 ball users................$50 to $60 a dozen, rather than a ball for half that price with the same performance.

Same price for most items like brand name current model clubs. Clothing is country club quality. Have been in several other stores. Too much inventory that lasts a long time. Bet most players use irons 8-10 years and drivers around 5 years

I take lessons there, but have never purchased a product. I've tried to rent a bay for practice and they said they are one of the few stores that don't do that. But I would if I could.

With respect to new golf clubs, there seems to be an attempt to fix prices for all retailers, including online sellers. Usually, I can buy almost anything from Amazon for a lower price than a store. Isn't this a violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act? If so, why isn't it being enforced?

Wanted a TaylorMade Stealth2, so I waited until their newest generation driver came out earlier this year (the Qi10), knowing they would eventually close out the Stealth2. I was in the store the end of September, and they had the driver I wanted, marked down to half price...and pulled the trigger on it.

Also, I don't buy that they are in a bad location. Sure, Earth Fare didn't make it (not a big surprise), but Total Wine is doing just fine.

I'm not sure that proves anything. Your neighbor may play every day but still suck, and you might have "grooved" your swing long ago. The real question would be a comparison of your scores with fitted modern top of the line clubs vs. your $50 set---over say 50 rounds each, and somehow blind the clubs so you have no bias.

I went there my first time this past summer. I don't golf but their PGA polos (spandex material?) are awesome. It's like wearing silk. Perfect summer shirts. I go to the clearance racks and get them for $25. Now you got me wondering if I should go stock up, lol.

Some folks are apparently confused about the PGA Superstore's business model.

Like most every other retail item, "online purchasing" has gobbled up a large percentage of sales. in the golf industry, "green grass shops" are no longer in vogue for hard goods (particularly clubs). Because of the variety of brands, models and specs, it's no longer practical to stock all the various combinations available, particularly with a limited clientele, consisting of the folks who play golf at that course.

Enter PGA Superstore.

There will remain a number of consumers, who insist on seeing, felling and touching what they buy. The PGA Superstore caters to these folks. They stock most every major brand at prices that rival the online suppliers.

While this (PGA Superstore) model was practical 20 years ago, when everyone had a storefront, things have changed. There are now some smaller, local shops. There are few stores such as Edwin Watts (which is where I go) ... & there's PGA Superstore.

If you need to feel it, touch it, smell it ... it's the place to go. If you want to window-shop, it's the place to go. If you buy your golf clubs, based on what they look like and what color ... it's the place to go. Women make up a disproportionate % of their customers.

Buy my clubs from Callaway preowned and regrip them myself. I take standard length and lie. Buy what was the latest and greatest technology two or three years ago for a fraction of the price. Buy mint condition golf balls from lostgolfballs.com (Titelist Velocity for about $1 per ball) and pick up free tees from the ground. Order a new glove every couple months from Amazon. My wife gets me an occasional golf shirt or pair of shorts for Christmas or my birthday. Don’t need anything else?

Improve your golf swing and save money on equipment or chase technology, your choice, BUT, judging by the number of stores and options to buy that are available people have chosen to chase. Evidently, learning is a harder choice and it's more fun to buy a swing than to own one. Then next year you can repeat the process......and next year and next year........you keep them in business, bless you

Never met a golf club that improved me more than a golf lesson does........most golfers live a delusional world and they are happy so these stores do provide a service........cheaper than a therapist

Most name brand(current models) are priced the same. High end balls same thing. Tough business. Clubs last a long time and very few technical changes recently. Biggest change was the Ping Eye clubs 30+ years ago.

Almost 50 years ago, for the PING Eye irons. 1978.

They were undoubtedly a major change, but there have been plenty of significant improvements since then. If there weren't, we'd still all be playing those PINGS.

Only buy Grips if i need one. Good prices on them. Nothing else. Easy place to get lost. Were only two customers besides me.

I went in once. Their prices are high. Not a great selection. I found more things at the various country club golf shops in The Villages than in here. I don't plan to return.

We've been there twice. Hand full of other shoppers while we were there. If they don't have it, you probably don't need it. Prices seem comparable to Villages golf shops. I guess you have to find things on sale, which is anywhere, to find a bargain. It comes down to buying what you need, not what you want sometimes... unless you have plenty disposable income lol

I used to sell to retail stores. Retired 11-12 years ago. My customers were being put out of business. Happened all the time. I bought this mail order. Can you show me how to use it? The person would get angry AND post bag review when the store told them they should ask where they bought it.

I had a problem with my microwave. Turn table motor. Sometime around mid night I looked on Amazon. They had ????? like 12 that they said would fit. I bought it and had it in two days.

Mom and pop retail is gone.

I am amazed that more people don't use Amazon. I buy almost everything I can from Amazon. It is less expensive and more convenient than brick and mortar stores. I guess going to a store is just a habit that costs people a lot of time and money.

For broken things, I want to fix them right away, like NOW! Amazon can't do this. . . as a visual person, looking physically at the product I can tell if it would fit. I currently have two RV part online orders which don't fit, one from amazon, one from the mfg, and both are supposedly the correct part and the only part. One of the tip offs is that the item purchased is a different material than the RV assembly. . so I have to go to the RV dealer, a different RV dealer than the one which told me which part it is to buy from the mfg.

Online is great when the item is near commodity or mass produced. If so, and I need/want it today as today is the day I have scheduled to the project, then store it is. My schedule is tight, if I can't finish the project at the scheduled time, it goes unfinished until I have time again.

everyone is different and the more DIY you do, and poop happens, the more one goes to the store.
