I have 2 tv's with roku units that stream off my xfinity box. Both stopped working, just get hung when I try to load channels. Other aspects of roku unit work, such as Roku live tv. I unplugged both tv and roku unit. Any suggestions?

Not sure what you mean by streaming off of your Xfinity box. Typically, the Roku stick will connect wirelessly to your wifi network. If the Roku units are old, I would suggest upgrading them and buy Roku sticks that will plug directly into an HDMI port on your TV. The Roku remote control also uses wifi to control the Roku stick. It may be helpful if you can post the model number for the Roku units you are using and how they are connected to your TVs and/or Xfinity box.

If both units "failed" at the same time, I would reset the Xfinity Wi-Fi by unplugging the unit for about 1 minute and then plugging it back in. Your Wi-Fi should be back is around a minute, then try the Ruko units again.

I don’t have a Roku so I don’t know what it means to load channels. Does “Roku live tv” mean tv through the internet or do you have an antenna for live tv channels? If you don’t have an antenna yet can still watch something then at least part of your internet connection is still working.
That it is affecting both boxes is interesting. Three possibilities come to mind: a problem with the internet connection; a problem with a recent software update, or; a problem at Roku.
VT already gave you advice about the internet connection.
If the problem was with a software update or with Roku then it’s annoying but not much you can do except look for confirmation. There are others on this board that use Roku and providing the info RG123 asked for will help find someone with the same hardware who might be able to confirm the problem.
I would think there are Roku user boards elsewhere on the internet too. If the problem is at Roku then there might be many people asking about it. You might try asking google about the issue to see what others are saying.

If you are using an Xfinity cable box, you are not streaming. That is why the OP's post needs clarification. What type of Roku device does the OP have, what type of Xfinity box is it, and how is it connected? Without more information, the OP's issue cannot be resolved. A new Roku stick only costs about $50, so trying to fix a 10 or 15 year old Roku device is not worth doing. Just buy new Roku devices.

If you are using a ROKU Express, you can use a paper clip or push pin to reset the unit. Look for a small hole somewhere on the ROKU.

I tried Roku years ago, didn't care for it. Got a new TV that came with Roku, I ignored it and just use my Firestick.

I reset the xfinity box, and the 2 tv's with roku stick came back up. So now I am able to stream xfinity on those 2 tv's with no digital box like my other 2 tv's. Thank you for the help.

Roku updates their system nightly. An old Roku gets updated the same as a new Roku.
You can check in Settings amd it will tell you the last time yours updated.

To clarify, you do not need an internet connection in your house to watch Xfinity channels if you have an Xfinity cable box connected to the cable that enters your house. The Roku device is a streaming device that needs an internet connection, but not a cable box. If you want to stream using a Roku device, all you need is a wifi signal and a TV, not a cable box. So, Roku streaming and cable TV are two entirely different ways to watch TV. Some people mistakenly think that they need internet service to watch cable TV. They don't.

If you hard reset know the following:
You will need an active email
You will need an active cell phone
Push the reset on the back of your Roku box device…OR ….accomplish through the options buttons on the app for “Factory Reset”
Let the unit rest 30 seconds
Restart your television
Upon the first command display you will be asked to pair your remote, this can be accomplished either by simultaneously pushing the home and back arrow ….OR …..removing and replacing the batteries and depressing the pair button.
Once the remote is operating follow the account set up for email etc. You will need an email for the account and the cell phone for secondary confirmation.
That’s it, you are all done after doing valid entries.

Take some time to go through some of the trouble shooting clips on You Tube. I've always been able to find the answer to the problems I was experiencing with my Roku by doing this & learned some added information. I do much better watching to learn over reading a set of instructions.

So what xfinity is internet connection which you have to have. Regarding what cable service you use. Xfinity in my area for last few months have been freezing up streaming or not. Getting close to as bad as satellite services.

If both of you Rokus stopped working at the same time, it could be their connection with your Xfinity box. By the way, when you say "Xfininty Box", I assume you mean the Xfinity Gateway that handles internet, as opposed to the box that handles cable. In any case, try unplugging the Gateway for 1 minute and then plugging it back in. Wait for it to fully reboot, then try the Rokus again. If the Rokus still don't work, try rebooting the Rokus one more time. Good luck!

The basic Xfinity cable TV service uses the cable that is connected to your house and connects to an Xfinity cable box located near the TV. With that service, you don't need a separate internet service. However, Xfinity also offer a wireless streaming box that may need internet service to operate the box. You can stream channels with a Roku device connected to the TV, and you can use any internet service that is available. I don't know if that answers your question.
If you are having trouble with the Xfinity service, I would try replacing the cable box, and, if that doesn't work, you may need to have a technician inspect the cable that enters your house.

You can stream your Xfinity TV service on a Roku stick. That way you only need one Xfinity box in the house. The other TVs can steam through the Roku using the Xfinity Stream App. This App links to your Xfinity acct by login/password and you mirror all your Xfinity TV channels and options, including what's on your Xfinity DVR.
