I hope you are not the only one. My policy renews in May so I am concerned it might get canceled like so many others. If they are "un"canceling policies then there is hope.

Log on your Progressive account. If you are going to be cancelled they will show it on the website. Alternatively, if you used The Villages Insurance as a broker then call them and they can tell you if you are on the list.

Currently it tells me "Paid in Full" which is what it has said since around April. I don't have confidence that it would tell me about a cancellation seven months in advance.
I'm not yet interested in waiting 20+ minutes on hold to schedule a return call to ask a question.... a task for the new year.
(the 20+ minute hold was for The Villages Insurance, maybe there is a direct line to Progressive. I'll look for that in the new year as well)

My home owner's insurance with Progressive renews in April. On their website under "status", the euphemism is "Pending Non Renewal". I also spoke with The Villages Insurance and they told me we were being cancelled. This was a couple of months ago.

My Progressive policy was scheduled for "non-renewal" on 12/3/24 after receiving notice in July. Yesterday received the letter that the cancellation was rescinded, and coverage would be renewed, so I called my agent at Villages Insurance. So, here's the story:
Governor Desantis declared most Florida counties a disaster zone. One of the results is that by law, no insurance can deny renewal during a time span that was essentially October thru December. Hence, all insurance companies, not just Progressive, that had "non-renewal" of policies during that time had to reinstate them. However......if you renew, you will be dropped after a year. Also, in my case, the renewal would be at a 65% increase in premium. Fortunately, I had already secured replacement insurance at the same price as last year

Good information, thanks. I guess that means Farmers would have to renew our policy on December 1st even though they already sent us a non renewal notice. Oh well, we already committed to a new insurer and don’t want to renew with a company that plans to dump us as soon as they legally can.

I logged on to our Progressive account, (never created a user name or password before) and the current STATUS states NON RENEWABLE in MAY, when our current paid in full year is up.
So you might have been un - unrenewed if the status is just paid in full
good luck. .

Hurricane Helene OIR Emergency Order: Extension of Grace Periods; Limitations on Cancellations and Nonrenewals.
Sep 30, 2024
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Governor Ron DeSantis provided updates for Florida policyholders following Hurricane Helene, including the issuance of an emergency order by the Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) to protect policyholders impacted by the storm.
“OIR remains committed to protecting consumers in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene and expects insurers to engage in frequent and meaningful conversation with policyholders throughout the recovery effort,” said Insurance Commissioner Michael Yaworsky. “In the coming weeks, OIR will work diligently to both support policyholders in impacted areas and continue our efforts to monitor the claims handling practices of our insurers.”
Policyholder Protections
OIR issued EO 400385-24 to protect policyholders impacted by Hurricane Helene. The order applies to all insurers in the state and policyholders in Alachua, Charlotte, Citrus, Columbia, Dixie, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Gulf, Franklin, Hamilton, Hernando, Hillsborough, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lee, Leon, Levy, Liberty, Madison, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Sarasota, Suwannee, Taylor, and Wakulla counties. The order:
Extends grace periods for any policy, provision, notice, correspondence, or law that imposes a time limit upon an insured to perform any act until November 26, 2024.
Prohibits the cancellation or nonrenewal of a policy in an impacted area, except at the written request of the policyholder, until November 26, 2024.
Prohibits the cancellation or nonrenewal of a personal residential or commercial residential property insurance policy covering a property repaired as a result of damage from Hurricane Helene for a period of 90 days after it has been repaired.
Directs insurers, surplus lines and other regulated entities to implement processes and procedures to facilitate the efficient payment of claims.
Floridians seeking assistance with insurance related questions should contact the Department of Financial Services Consumer Services either by visiting their website, or by contacting the DFS Consumer Services Assistance Line 1-877-693-5236. The line is open Monday-Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

About every 2 years I have my insurance broker review my policies. I changed homeowners 3x since buying in TV 5 years ago. Changed auto 2x mostly due to high rate increases. They all know about any and all claims you have made, so you owe them nothing by sticking around… just like shopping at Walmart/Publix/Aldi/Winn Dixie, whoever has the best prices at the time I will switch.
I have been using Sarah at the contact info below… she has been great as we had 2 houses in Colorado plus the one in FL and worked with my CO provider for things like an umbrella policy that worked across both states. She’s busy right now dealing with all the Milton activity but if you are not needing to do something right away, probably wait until January. Currently I pay $1500 annually for $400k coverage in a designer home with a $1000 deductible and a 2% hurricane deductible, no pool, just the normal house. It is concrete block which might make a bit of a difference.

We had already paid Orange insurance but now have cancelled and went back to Nationwide saving a thousand dollars and getting way better coverage for the coming year.
Thanks to the Governor for this temporary reprieve. Our agent says next year we will once again be looking for a new insurance company.

INTERESTING-my understanding was Progressive felt they had too much exposure in Florida and refused to renew SOME policies. We lost that lottery and were forced to switch companies. The price was the same. We were with Progressive for over 11 years. Talk about lotteries, We had major damage in the recent Hurricane the new insurer lost the lottery. Progressive will need to be far cheaper when we face renewal.

Far as insurance, it is a numbers game. Risk as well as competition. Talking to someone. They do not have th power to change company policy. It does pay to check with a HUMAN hard as they are to find to be sure there computer has the right information. Artificial Intelligence? Many humans are an accessory to the computer.

Progressive is leaving the state. I received a letter saying they will not renew my policy. In their notice they recommended using Loggerhead. I have a policy with them starting 1/1/25. I also checked Kim but found numerous complaints about the.

I guess that means Farmers would have to renew our policy on December 1st even though they already sent us a non renewal notice.
Our Farmers policy expires in six weeks and I've not heard that they have reversed their decision not to renew.
I have found a suitable replacement, but would be interested to see if Farmers raise their rates considerably.

Like many of you I got the cut letter from Progressive. Then the renew letter. Then came the premium for the new policy........from 2800 in 23/24 to 4200 in 24/25.....what a bargain. Went shopping and got something more reasonable.

A little off topic but just read that Citizens will be increasing premiums in the 10-15% range. Most of those were in the coastal areas.

I got a notification also, Florida made them after hurricane. I got different insurance for less. Progressive wanted $400. more than before, ripoff. Would like to meet Flo and Jake from State Farm in a dark alley, lol By raising the price they are forcing us to go to someone else for coverage, what a way to run a company. They are offering coverage at a price we can’t afford.

As a follow up to my original post the Progressive renewal quote came in yesterday - almost $6,400 - Guess Desantis got them to renew but it's useless at that cost.

Amendment of Hurricane Helene Emergency Order & Hurricane Milton Emergency Order

Extension of Grace Periods; Limitations on Cancellations and Nonrenewals

Correct. An "agent" is someone who represents a company and has the power to act on their behalf. The people who sell policies are not agents of the insurance company although they pretend to be.
