If you had a free morning in your schedule and you are able; would you choose golf or pickleball?

I'd choose a root canal over pickleball.

I'd rearrange my schedule to create plenty of chances to do both!

Not an equivalency by any means. It's like asking if you would prefer filet mignon or dog crap for dinner. Golf by a landslide!

The only reason I don't have a free morning is because I'm already playing PB. So the question doesn't really make sense.

I don't like either. I'd go for a walk, ride my bicycle, weed the garden, go to the pool, hang out with my neighbors, or just sit at home watching something on Netflix. Same as I do now. I have plenty of free time. I'm retired.

Without a doubt golf. Pickle ball brings out my competitive nature and the result is that I aggravate my bone on bone knees and hips and regret playing. Golf, lap swimming, and bike riding are much easier on the worn out joints.

Just say what you want. There's no need to bash anyone else's choice. Golf early morning in the wet grass would not be my choice, but I love the breakfast answer.

2 completely different things. One is very physical and demanding on knees etc. the other is less physical but might not be the best for the wrist. One you have a good chance of injuring yourself. The other, maybe a wrist injury. Good luck….

Hands Down Pickleball! I could easily play every morning and not get tired of it - great exercise too! I thought moving here to the Villages I would be all about golf - I enjoy golf, but could take or leave it (I play maybe twice a month). Funny how that worked out. I’ve met so many great Villagers through pickleball.

I play both. I wish I could play PB more than I am able to. If my body could hold up to the stress I'd play PB every day. I like golf, mostly for the social aspects, but I love PB.

Yeah. I know. But since my dad decided I was going to play and he would be my teacher, I have often thought "golf" sounded, well, kinda disgusting. Like a dog trying to vomit. Is that really the best name the Scots come up with? Oh, well. After all, what is in a name? A rose by any other name ..... you know. 🫠

It has been said that the Scots chose the word "golf" because all of the other four letter words were taken.

I would choose in this order- skeet shooting - football by myself - baseball by myself - hockey outside in august here in TV - or maybe just resting after a hard day.

I'd not played golf in 15 years because of my work schedule, although some would argue what I did back then wasn't really golf, i.e. never was very good. I enjoyed playing with friends, the occasional good shot, and many of the courses I've played in the US and Canada are beautiful. Not tried pickleball, but I used to like racquetball, which was a little faster pace. Problem these days is a budging disk at L4-L5 and L5-S1 and tweaking either one or both means pain for a while. Debating playing golf again (back issue). Pickleball looks like it would be hard on my knees (yeah, need to lose some weight). Thinking about getting my back "fixed", but not sure about the docs around here and the downside of things going wrong is scary.

Definitely Pickleball

Golf can be played alone, calm, serene, cerebral.
Pickle ball requires two manic gluttons for punishment who try and entice each other into making more dangerous and possibly more debilitating efforts to return the ball. Escalating physical punishment and mental anxiety until one combatant fall. Yes, combatant for pickleball is not a sport, it is a martial art.

Pickleball is hard on the knees (and ears) because the ball bounces low and the court is hard. Up north people play it inside in gyms with wooden floors, which have more "give" so are easier on the knees. As an additional benefit, pickleball is also hard on the elbow due to the quick, awkward motion used to hit the ball.
.......On a positive note - it is easy to quickly get reasonably good at it. And the quick exchanges crank up the adrenaline system, which older players need and may be addictive for them.
.......On a negative note - many injuries.

Shoot pool. Physically easy and still a true sport. Like golf without the green fees and back pain.

Up close the sound is more of a fairly loud "k-tonk". It's a wonder PB players don't all have headaches.

Actually noise level pickleball has come down it last 5 years or so due to paddle technology. Most now don’t make the loud pop when hitting the sweet spot.
