Recently, I learned of a group known as the Villages Flying Golf Carts. They perform stunts weaving in and around each other on public streets. Today, a video was posted on TikTok clearly shows this group involved in a severe crash where one cart zigged and it should have zagged. There are now several posters questioning why a group of retired, senior citizens are allowed to perform these "stunts" on public streets or anywhere else for that matter. Some comments include this group is the same as street racers and should be arrested. These are NOT professionals and they are not driving highly equipped sportscars.

I think reckless driving of golf carts probably is illegal,

Is enforcement of whatever misdemeanors the daredevils are guilty of a public safety priority? A different question.

Watch out for those cart gangs. You can tell how bad and mean they are by the colors of their loofahs. Don’t mess with them.

Villages Flying Golf Carts.

At what height do these golf carts fly at?

Hopefully they learned their lesson and they are done.

Can’t believe I wasted the lone minute reading this nonsense.

While I think the cart group itself is silly, I feel OP and the “other posters” referenced are grasping and looking for things to complain about.

Next thing they’ll want to outlaw are driveway parties since they block the roads.

I worry a lot more about encountering drunks and dope-heads driving around on the roads at all times of the day.

The best thing is that on other social media outlets where the clip is posted the outsiders posted how the drunks are out of control in TV. My thoughts is that if those two cart drivers had insurance is the insurance company going to pay out, considering they were knowingly engaging in dangerous activity ?

I was surprised to see that a group organized to perform stunts doesn't require their performers to wear seatbelts. (or maybe they do and the driver who flew through the windshield simply forgot)

EDIT: As has been pointed out, twice as of Friday morning, the driver was thrown out of the side of the cart, not through the windshield. I believe the point of the post is still valid regardless of the path the body took as it was ejected from the cart during the stunt.

It’s amazing what people will do so they can put crap out on social media?

I have to think pretty hard to find a stupider pastime for old people than "flying golf carts"...actually more appropriately named "flying golf cart drivers"....

Nothing new here. There has been a group of Villagers in golf carts performing in parades and such for at least 15 years in The Villages. Perhaps it’s a new group or same group calling themselves “the Flying Carts”. I like their tenacity - go active seniors!

Actually he did not fly through the windshield. The cart was turning to the right when he came to a stop; then he flew out the door. While I hope the guy was not (badly) hurt, that video made me laugh more than anything else today. See it here, maybe you'll get a chuckle too:

Why should The Flying Carts be banned, why would you even suggest such a thing? They are a group of cart enthusiasts who perform for our entertainment. They had an accident, so what! Accidents happen in every thing we do. Polo accidents happen, should polo be banned? Football players get hurt in every single game ever played, should football be banned? Janet Jackson even had a dress malfunction, should dresses be banned? Let the carts fly and join in the applause when you see them.

Play stupid games win stupid prizes. Hope the group has now disbanded. I find it profoundly interesting what individuals will do for attention.
Am I the only one left who’s never been on tik tok?
I doubt they were “allowed”. The Villages is a town/city just like any other. In my observation most residents here are not out for tik tok fame. Don’t let a few knuckleheads tarnish our wonderful place

They are precision drill team and yes accidents can happen. They are a performance team the roads are closed or they perform at events. Please they are not endangering anyone but themselves - leave the attitude, don't want to see them don't go

Yes, it was either a performance or a practice by a long standing stunt pilot group here in TV. This video was on FB yesterday and there were some comments by some who were knowledgeable about the group and incident. The group practices 4-10x per month. The lady driver who popped out of her cart was the weakest link who just wasn’t catching on to all of the stunts. She has left the group. She was not seriously hurt, but there was definitely damage done to the carts. I do wonder though why she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

Personally, I’ve seen videos of their performances, and when all goes well as it mostly does, it’s quite fun and very impressive.

I don’t see a problem with having fun, besides there is a future for charity. They remind me somewhat of the Shriners at parades when I was a kid. They zoomed around on the 4th making people happy, making themselves happy and passing out candy. It isn’t a reach to say these guys have the same potential.

You know… there is always someone who will complain about something that They don’t like. I think that complaining should be illegal. Just an opinion.

You've made a good point. If this were being done with SUVs traveling toward each other 20 mph it would be shut down. The carts are incorrectly viewed a toys, which explains some of the odd behavior that can be seen. Recently, I learned of a group known as the Villages Flying Golf Carts. Hmm. People at driveway parties usually don’t have the tendency to act like idiots and drive carts at each other, do they? I hope this is a wake up call for the old fools to quit these dangerous acts on PUBLIC ROADS.

The referenced video is posted on YouTube Flying Golf Cart Parade Gone Wrong Watch Until The End!!! - YouTube (https://youtube.com/shorts/vyAZAUaLHRE?feature=shared) and clearly one driver was thrown from their cart. Though intended as entertainment there are hazards associated with all such recreation. According to one source:

“In the US, golf cart accidents cause around 600 deaths per year. Golf cart accidents also cause over 15,000 injuries each year.” [Search Labs Generative AI, reference, conducted 11.11.24 @ 10:17 pm]

Training, and Mitigates to include seatbelts, and other safety devices would likely reduce injury in such situations.

He was a she, and she was okay, but quit the group after this incident.
