We want to see what this place is all about. Enough of the YouTube videos, movies, and articles...It's time to witness all the fun firsthand. We want to rent in March, and we know we're late, but what's the best way to find a rental for March? What are the things to watch for to ensure the rental is legit? Can guest passes be obtained so we can experience The Villages like you do while renting? Any pointers would be truly appreciated. Thanks!

Start looking in February and pick up a cancellation. A lot of landlords in The Villages are working close to the edge and are desperate when someone cancels. You'll find a place for 50ยข on the dollar.

With the amount of closing everyday, one can find an abundance of rentals this coming high season. In early 2000s due to demand you had to look for rentals a year in advance. Our first rental our average wanting to rent was 65-80 people, per season with most locking in for following year.
Not so any more there are at least 7 online sites with homes added everyday. Some canceled in more established villages, but in new builds you have a multitude of choices within weeks of wanting to rent

March will be tough. Try joining the South of 44 Facebook Group and post your request once per week. It's free and if the right new buyer sees it you will get a reply.

No idea why you've selected March specifically. But if you can wait til May, you can probably book the less expensive Lifestyle Visit property. The February/March months rent at those properties for $199/night. In May, the price drops down to $99/night. It's up to 7 days, and it'll be a house in the southern part of The Villages, because they want to showcase the new construction.
You're not obligated to see the new construction and in fact you're not even obligated to talk to a sales person beyond the initial check-in where they ask you your interests in The Villages and offer assistance, give you a visitor's package and passes, the key to your rental and a map.
If you do decide to take them up on assistance, they can show you ANY Villages-listed property for sale, both new and pre-owned. The only thing they can't show you themselves, are MLS listings in the community. Those you'd have to check yourself.
