I rented a house in The Villages for a week in the beginning of January. I am coming down with a couple of other guys and are planning on playing 36 holes a day.

Without having a guest pass or a resident pass until I get there, how do I go about booking tee times in advance?

Good luck with that.

With a resident card you can make tee times six days in advance but you don’t have one. I suggest you call the courses you want to play and see if they can help you or offer guidance.

You might be able to call a country club, talk to a pro and get one tee time. You certainly won’t be able to fill out your full week.

January is different than December, but I looked, there are plenty of tee times for a foursome open tomorrow.

Tee Times: Golf in The Villages(R), Florida (https://www.thevillages.com/golf/tee-times/)

You might want to consider venturing outside the bubble. Times won’t be known until 3 days before play date and could be difficult to obtain for renter with guests during busy season (you’ll need to get out early AM and PM to play 36 during short winter days). Plus, be prepared for your guests to pay close to $180 per day to play 36 when high season rates take effect January 1st.

They could probably play Orange Blossom, all day every day. Of course, they'd need therapy after a week of that.

There's actually only one way to do what the poster wants, that I know of.

1. Make a list of the Pro Shop phone numbers for every Championship Golf course.

2. Starting 3 days before your scheduled arrival, call Pro Shops until you find a morning & afternoon (2nd Wave) tee time. Early mornings will be fairly easy, 2nd Wave ... not so easy.

3. Every morning, start making your calls for the upcoming day or days.

Whether you have an ID or Guest Pass isn't going make much difference when you book the Tee Time.

Championship courses are all open to the public and staff will sort out ID's, Guest Passes, etc. when you check in and pay. If you're paying the Public Rate after January 1st, you'll be looking at about $100/round depending on status.

Yes you can BUT…. Are you getting guest passes or resident ID!

IF who you are renting from so chooses at your request, they can apply for passes 30 days in advance..Pick them up, take to the home you are renting. Snapshot pic of passes and you can make tee times at the appropriate days out, prior to arrival.
Since this is a inconvenience for them, and a Bonus for you, I would LTK you would greatly appreciate the jester and give them a very nice gift card for their time.
Otherwise no tee time until you have passes in hand. Then the day you arrive you would have to call courses for that day. Probably the next two days will be hard to acquire tee time you are happy with, fourth day and after a better shot.

As i posted a really nice Gift card for all their troubles would be worth it.

If you know anyone that is on the computer tee time system they can put in as a guest request 6 days out and you will know 3 days out if you got a tee time or not. If you get a tee time in the morning wave you will not get a tee time in the afternoon wave via the system ahead of time. To get a two tee times to play 36 holes in the same day once you get a morning tee time then the day of play phone around to courses and you can get an afternoon tee time if available.

The only other way is to get on the phone around 7:15 AM the day of playing and call each championship course until you are able to make your tee times AM and PM. Be ready to go when you call because the early tee times are the most likely to be available. I would suggest that when you arrive here go to the pro-shop at a championship course and tell them what you would like to do and they will confirm if what I suggest still works. I have done this in the past but it was many years ago.

I had a friend come down last March who wanted to play 36 one day during the visit. I was able to use the online tee time system to book us for a morning round at Palmer at around 9:00 and then an afternoon round at Tierra Del Sol at about 2:30. Perhaps the system allowed it because Tierra is not on the wave, but instead has straight tee times, and the tee times were more than 5 hours apart? This was after we spun the clocks forward an hour, so there was plenty of daylight to get in 36 holes with lunch in between rounds.

The days are too short to play 2 rounds per day. 27 hole per day is a better expectation.

Call Nancy Lopez golf shop and talk to Steve. Tell him your situation and you are coming for a visit. Much like the Lifestyle Preview plan they will do as much as possible to make you happy. Good luck

I'm curious how you got a one week rental in January! I have friends that have been looking for months and no one will rent less than 3 months in high season.

Short answer...you can't. At least, not more than 3 days in advance.

The tee time system will allow requests to be entered a maximum of 7 days in advance. Your name can appear on only one request per day. Plus, if your group includes any guests (sounds like it will), your request would receive the lowest priority in the request pecking order.

You can see available tee times for any course 3 days prior to the day of play. These are considered open tee times, and are available. Having guests does not impact picking up open tee times, and you can have more than one tee time per day. Snagging open tee times is different than submitting requests seven days out.

My guess is that your best approach would be a combination of sharpshooting open tee times, along with calling courses the day of play. January is the height of the busy season here, and you will be competing with a lot of folks who want to play golf. Good luck!

Here’s an honest answer. There is no way your foursome will play 36 holes per day in TV, zero chance. I would advise you make arrangements outside TVs for early morning tee times, then pick a Villages course for twilight. Twilight is first come first serve only, usually sometime around 3:30. That said, what you can do is: after you get your guest passes and sign up for Tee Time System you can use TTS to get in que behind all the residents and enhanced members for available championship courses within TVs. Good luck.

As a newbie, check out the map and golf intro pages on The Villages 101 The Villages 101 You've come the right place for renters and snowbirds to learn about The Villages "Florida's Friendliest Hometown". Neighborhoods, house rentals, activities, and pointers to the many other resources. (http://www.thevillages101.com).

Why can't your landlord authorize temporary resident IDs in advance? Once they process the form, you "may" be able to get the sales office to release your six digit number in advance of your stay...

As of 10 minutes ago, there were over 700 completely open (available) Tee Times on the Championship courses in TV, for tomorrow. 3000 players.

Tee times are only available for day of play when making arrangements through the golf shop. For reservations/view open tee times, one will need access to the tee time system.

There aren't many decent ones, close by.

Juliett Falls is usually in great condition.
Deer Island is kind of an odd ball course, but ok.
Candler Hills in Ocala isn't a great layout, but decent.
Skyview is supposed to be good, but I've never played it.
Cabot Citrus Farms is one of a kind and probably worth the trip.

Mission Resort + Club Golf | Official Site (https://www.missionresortandclubgolf.com/)

The courses above both have two different great 18 hole layouts at the same location. If you are looking to play 36 holes these would be great because you wouldn't be playing the same course twice.

I'd take that bet. Just looked at current open tee times for Thursday. I could easily pick two foursome times that would get me 36 holes in a day. Considering no one seems to like playing early morning in the 'winter' months, 7:30 tee times are wide open. Finding a 12:45-ish tee time is also possible. Boom...36 holes.

True 2 weeks before Christmas, but January is very, very different. Maybe they can, and maybe they can't, but there are no guarantees. And remember, without access to the tee time system they are going to have to call each course the day of play.

I would add that once January rolls around the pace of play typically slows down significantly (especially if you get stuck behind a 9 and dine group in the later afternoon) and it gets dark out around 5:30. The early PM wave t times get booked up very fast and are dominated by leagues with enhanced memberships. Getting in the afternoon round, with guests, will be difficult.

Thanks both. I will concede I have no experience in January, so I will take your word for it. I saw on the news this morning that we've already passed the earliest sunset. So starting now, the sun will be setting later each day. It will be interesting to see how January affects early morning tee times.
