I had to replace the unit on my Mom's place over in the historic district a few years back and used SunKool (who I also use for the maintenance on my home). It was nothing but a very positive experience.

Taking bets now, that the odds of them giving you an estimate that is the lowest are 1000-1. Do not waste your time, even for an estimate

Whoever you use, get it done before the end of the year when the new regulations kick in, the prices will go up substantially, and you will be getting new and unproven technology. We had our HVAC system replaced last week.

Another reason:
Some American HVAC systems (including Trane) ASSEMBLE in the USA, using parts made in Mexico. Tariffs are going to be jacking up the already-inflated prices.

Get your expensive stuff now while you can still afford the payments.

What ever you get, make sure to get a 10-12 year warranty (parts and labor). If you plan on living in the home for more then 5 years I would recommend a unit with a SEER rating of 19. Going to cost more but you will get a payback in 5 years.
(Get the warranty in writing)

I recently asked for a quote from Frank Gay to install a home EV charger. the electrician they sent started playing around with my electrical panel. “You need a brand new electrical panel” he said. "We'll install it for $4,000". I chucked to myself, and thought maybe I do need one and maybe I don't. He then proceeded to try to up-sell me on various services that Frank Gay offered and that I had not asked for. It was obvious to me he'd been wound up like a tin soldier by his bosses to try to up-sell everything he could think of, whenever he gave a customer estimate. I half expected him to tell me I needed the air in my car tires changed and that was a service they offered. I eventually used Sun State Power for my work. Their electrician laughed when I told him what the Frank Gay electrician had said. After dealing with their representative, I will never do business with Frank Gay, nor will I recommend them.

Well suddenly, Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico's President is agreeing to our President-Elects terms, which would otherwise impose a 25% tariff on imports from Mexico.

ON TOPIC about THIS HVAC COMPANY-the O.P. should search past posts here. If they due dilligence this company- they would never choose this firm.
When I see The brightly colored Gay trucks on our roads, I totally cringe, knowing that someone has a nightmare of epic proportions rolling around the turnabouts toward them.

I had my system replaced a few months ago by SunKool. It was a positive experience. In the past, Kiley installed a "whole house water filter" system for us. When I needed to change the filters, I went to Kiley. They had sold to Frank Gay who would replace the two filters for $230.00. They wouldn't sell me the filters, but would install them for the quoted price. I bought two sets of filters for about $30 from Amazon and over the years installed them myself.

I would not go to Frank Gay plumbing for any type of service or repair. Frank and Jesse James ride again.

In 2025, the refrigerant used in HVAC systems will change to improve the environment. Some say that this will cause prices for new systems to increase by 20 to 25 percent. Personally, I think this is mostly a scare tactic to get people to buy older systems before the end of 2024. Time will tell.

This DuckDuckGo search (https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=hvac+regulations+2024&ia=web) is a good place to start.

It looks like equipment *manufactured* after 1/1/25 must meet the new standards. Equipment manufactured prior to that date must be installed by 1/1/26.

I had DeSantis replace mine. I thought they were competitively
priced and did a great job. They replaced the copper and wiring out to the outside compressor. Some don't but they told me the old lines could contaminate the new coolant. Checked with a buddy of mine in HVAC and he agreed. Extremely happy.

Time for a new HVAC system? I highly recommend you call DeSantis as they have done 2 homes for us, one 3 years ago and the other 4 months ago. Very competitive pricing and service is excellent. New owner that bought the company about 2 years ago from the DeSantis family after Mr. DeSantis passed away, has upgraded everything from building, equipment and employees.

I'ved used Munn's for work on my main unit and to install a split unit for my new lanai. Every contact has been friendly, timely, well-performed at a reasonable cost. A reputable business who fulfills what they say. I'll continue to go back to them.

As far as furnace/a/c replacement I go with Munns. They will rebuild box replace everything even put my new AC lines/ drain underground like original. They give me option I didn’t want ugly lines going up wall and across my attic to other side. Came at 8AM and done by 3PM. CYV Price summer 2023 was $8100.

I would not use them. They were over two times as expensive as another plumber who did the same work in another bathroom (replacing a faucet) and had to come back to fix a leak. The tech also “fixed” a running toilet, charged $100 and it stopped working in less than a week. When I had another plumber install a second faucet, he tightened something in toilet at no cost and everything has worked for 8 months.

I had Kiley and Sons and they were bought out by Frank Gay and I had a garbage stoppage. I tried everything, even took plumbing apart and no stoppage there. Called Gary, his guy came and filled up sink with water and a plunger and it cleared. The Bill - $250.00. Enough said, I will never call them again.

No experience with Frank Gay directly but have read the negative here. I used Kalos for an HVAC in my garage after getting estimates from an independent contractor, Munns and M&S. Kalos was not the lowest but was far lower than M&S and Munns. I have seen Kalos work on friend's homes and the price was slightly higher than an independent contractor. I went with a company I felt would be around if I need services. They did great work and did the work as they said they would with permits, etc. completed.

From what I have been told first hand from a furnace rep, it all starts with a new type of Freon. Then, new Freon detecting sensors within the air handler/furnace that when activated will shut down the furnace until the detected leak is fixed, winter or summer.

If I needed a new system, I would get 3 quotes and negotiate with Munn's if they were a lot higher. I would be willing to pay more for Munn's, but not much, much more. I think they are better situated for handling warranty work because of their relationship with the Villages builders.
