IMHO, best prices will be a DIY project with materials from Lowes or Home Depot, both carry predrilled panels and matching shelves and drawer units. Now on a personal observation, the homes tend to have very little storage space and we have found the original wire rack shelving with a slight rearrangement provides much more storage than any custom designed storage system and we can see exactly where something is without the need to open drawers or doors. A previous neighbor had custom storage installed, cost thousands of dollars and it was the first thing removed when the house was sold.
My closet has one piece of furniture (kit form from Home Depot) with 3 drawers and 3 shelves, the rest of the storage is wire rack and hangers for my clothes. I eventually added additional wire rack shelving higher up for low use storage I need a step stool for access. This has worked well for over 10 years. my wife's closet is similar but no cabinet.

The Container Store has Elfa brand shelving systems with shelves, drawers, etc; usually goes on sale in January. You can play around with designs on your computer but the store in Orlando has designers who can figure out what works best; then you can pay their installer to do the work. Its all reconfigurable so if you change your mind you can move things around. Not cheap but very nice.

I searched online for a closet design I liked. Simply type the words Walk-in Closet Design Ideas. When I found one I liked, I shopped around for the best prices on closet systems. Wayfair, Lowes, and Home Depot had many to choose from. I bought several telescopic pant organizers from Temu for $5.35 each. They work wonderfully for a small closet. Can be used for other items, not just pants. It ended up being a very easy do it yourself project.

We have 10 ceilings and the only company other than custom, is IKEA for that height. We have triple hang on one 10’ wall. Winter stuff hung very top, switch around during the colder months to mid hang. My shelves are 10’ on corner wall also. Basically triple our storage with ceiling height. Our delicate Christmas stuff is stored in decorative boxes in the top of 10’ shelves. We have 8’ and 10’ ladders and 10’ clothes hook to move stuff, so not a big deal to get stuff down twice a year

I built a custom closet for this wealthy lady who had a yacht. She was very rude and one day she fell over and knocked herself out. She completely lost her memory, so I was able to convince her that I was her husband and we lived in a shack with our kids.

I can recommend Craig Stewart who works with Gingerich Design Center. Craig first helped us with our garage storage (cabinets and slat walls). Recently, he designed a walk in closet for us. Their showroom....near Brownwood....is beautiful. We tried another closet company before to redo two reach-in closets. Craig's result was superior. As for prices, I'm not sure but you could get estimetes to compare prices. 352-748-0770. It's a fun project.

Design a couple of good golf bag storage compartments in the closet. You don’t want your sticks stored in the hot garage between May and October. The heat will prematurely destroy your grips. If it means tossing out some cloths and shoes you never wear anyways, so be it. Your sticks are way more important.

Wish there was one but they all charge 1000x too much. Example got several quotes to do my primary closet, highest was 4k lowest 2200. Bought the closet system on Wayfair for 600 and my husband installed it himself. It looks just as good as the plan from estimates.
I know most can’t or won’t do what we did so plan on forking over big bucks. It’s well known that contractors take advantage of Villagers. Maybe because 40% are at a minimum of a millionaire.

We used Closets By Design. They routinely run sales and actually listen to what your needs and wants are. We did not want or need any drawers in our closet. We have probably 75% hanging areas at different levels and the remainder shelves. All hanging racks and shelves are adjustable if needs change. We also have shelves for shoes that allow you to see them all (there are a few). Completely satisfied.

Closets by Design. 407-203-4004 Ask for Jay Hassman. Super great salesman. Listens to your needs will NOT pressure you. He will work well with his customers. Pricing is good they may still have a sale on. He’s one of the best salesmen I ever had to work with. He’s super honest and straightforward!

I just went with Home Depot. They have 20% off for The Villages. I recommend having them come out and measure. I first did virtual but then they came out and had different measurements. They have very nice options and colors.

So you are saying that for this kind of project you should never go overboard. Good advice.

Didn’t Container Store recently file chapter 11? Just had a ladder delivered from them box damaged and the product. CS is not allowing a credit or replacement so far.

Consider a safe. If on the floor hard to get too so might want to put it up a few feet.

If you have any design capabilities and know how you would like to lay out your closet storage, try Easy Closets.com. We used them and their website for over 6 of our homes. They have a design program which is user friendly and gives one the capability of previewing their choices.
They quickly replaced any damage in shipping, (we had one chipped shelf), and we were able to install the systems ourselves. If you are handy, they can be easily installed from the included instructions.
