Seems like posting a classified on here, is a bit useless. If I post a $200- item for sale, at a price of only $40-, it gets 300 views, but never a buyer. Yet, if I post it for that same price on Facebook or EBay, it has a better chance of selling. Are people who look at classifieds on this site just lookers? Why waste your time, if you have no intention of ever buying?

Facebook and eBay have a lot more prospective buyers! TOTV is a very small website compared to the other two.

Try upping the price - listing too cheap can make people think something is wrong with it
I had a bed that didn't sell for $175 but did for $325

Like Rainger said, the number of potential lookers/buyers on TOTV is dramatically smaller than on Facebook, Ebay, etc.
A comment I'll make is, truth bomb alert, most of the Classified ads on here are terrible. I contend that the listers wouldn't buy something based on their own images and text. I don't know what they're thinking when they post them.
Suggestions from a long time online marketer:
-- Good images matter! Use the best lighting you have, get up close to object and post the largest size photo this site allows.
-- Dimensions matter! Amazes me how many post furniture ads with no dimensions provided.
-- Describe the condition of the item and any other key attributes
-- Mention the Village name where it can be seen/picked-up. And include the price IN THE AD not just in the title. Otherwise, viewers are having to flip back and forth as they go thru ads. It's annoying. I would also include the date listed in the ad.
Bottom line: Think about what info, you as a buyer, would want to see to be interested in taking the next step.

All good advice - and get your photos in the correct orientation - looking at something sideways is annoying

This. Also, I do not go to the classifieds because it requires me turning off my ad block. No way in heck I'm turning off my ad block on this site, they are abundant and annoying.

And if you do post the dimensions, make sure the measurements posted are correct!!
We saw a very nice piece of furniture on TOTV and the size was perfect for our bedroom. When we drove (from Sawgrass to near Savannah Center) up there to buy the piece, it turned out that she had measured incorrectly (not really sure how you do that) and the piece was way too large for us.

We’ve had a great deal of success selling items on TOTV.

I answered several ads for used golf carts when we arrived.
The ones that did answer my inquiries advised their carts were sold long ago and the TOTV classifieds were pretty much all outdated.
I never looked at the classifieds again.

Depends on the item, I suppose. I sold a Meade reflector telescope here and it sold the same day that it went up on the site. It sold for nearly as much as I had purchased it for.

I sold a golf cart in one day on TOTV. Depends on what you’re selling.

I personally don’t think this site is user friendly for buying or selling.

I agree the for sale in the classified on this site get window shoppers mostly.

That is why the DATE of the ad listing is relevant. But, the software doesn't automatically provide it and, somehow, virtually no one includes it in their listing.
TOTV should also have expiration dates on ads whereby they deactivate. It would then be up to the listers to reactivate their ads if the item is still available.

I bought a used golf cart advertised on ToTV when I first bought my house in TV...
Last Summer, I sold it and bought a newer one, all on ToTV. No muss no fuss...

Other than golf carts, I don't think it makes any sense to use a random site like this one to sell random items.
When we post something for sale on Facebook Marketplace for a good price we usually have multiple prospective buyers within a few hours or even minutes. Plus the cost to advertise is free.

We had swivel barstools for sale that were new and really nice. We lowered the counters 6 mos.after purchase rendering them useless for their ht.
It was hilarious!
One couple came and kept looking and looking at them. And kept walking around them, touching them and sitting on them, they drove their Cart home, got their car, came back and did the same. They asked for them at 1/2 price. I said, no.
Meanwhile, another woman had called and came in while they were still in discussions in their car(?)and bought them for full price at 125. in 2 seconds, saying they were absolutely perfect! Sweet!
I thought the first set of buyers were pretty nutty, but it was fun watching this lady load them into her SUV in less than 5 min., while they witnessed.
I am happy that I don't have anything ELSE to sell tho! EVER! lol

I put a Li-ion golf cart on here and sold it in a day for $20,000. I put an unused e-bike on here, paying plenty to have the photo posted here, and got no contacts except from scam artists. That said, I paid $50 to have it prominently advertised on Facebook, and all the contacts were from out of The Villages, and no one has bought it. Hard to say what will work.

Depends on what you’re selling.
And it depends on the price.
