I know each year championship rates increase.. what I don't understand is why Palmer was grouped in with the new courses Southern Oaks and Shallow Creek for a higher cost.. In my opinion for several years Palmer has been in really poor shape compared to Glenview and Lopez and even with them re-doing Cherry Hill it's still no match quality wise ... I can't speak of the new courses down south because our group won't travel that far so I have no idea if they deserve a higher fee also??

I’m sure they have statistics (demand for rounds of golf played versus the other northern Championship courses) that lead them to believe charging a higher rate won’t have a negative impact on the revenue the course will generate. Compared to Southern Oaks and Shallow Creek, Palmer is a huge bargain for the same price. Southern Oaks and Shallow Creek can get away with the premium rates because of the different supply and demand equation south of 44.

Palmer Legend's has always been the premier Country Club in TV and except for a short interlude, it was always the most expensive.
I played Glenview twice in the last week and Palmer twice (I don't play Lopez, I think it's a lousy design). Palmer is in as good, if not better condition than Glenview. The Greens at Palmer were running in the 9.5-10 range ... Glenview, about 8-8.5. The Palmer layout (other than perhaps Cherry Hill) is head and shoulders above Glenview.
If you question whether the above opinion is shared by others, go online right now and look at tomorrow's Tee Sheet for Palmer, Glenview & Lopez. There are a zillion available Tee Times for Lopez & Glenview .... hardly any for Palmer.
