Looking for a dentist that doesn't work for a dentistry chain. Someone that doesn't want to replace everything in your mouth. Does only what needs to be done.

We have had good luck with Trailwinds Dental and with Grand Traverse Dental.

There have been many dentist recommendations on TOTV in the past. If you are familiar with the search engine feature of the forum, try searching for the word "dentist." Otherwise, I can recommend my dentist in Bushnell, Dr. Novak of Bushnell Family Cosmetic and Dentistry (or something similar like that). He's on 301 about 30 minutes south from our Tamarind Grove neighborhood. He does not upsell. His prices are not bottom line, but I've heard from another dentist who looked at my x-rays that he does excellent work.

When we first moved here we went to Wildwood Dental because they accepted our insurance. They tried to sell me a whole new mouth. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

I've now been going to Palm Ridge Dental for over three years and love them. The only downside is they don't accept insurance but they do file the paperwork with my insurance company so I do get reimbursed at the contract rate.

My wife goes to Southern Trace Dental, and she's very happy with them. Based on the condition of her tooth or teeth, they do recommend treatment but never have they pushed her towards anything. As an informed patient, they leave the treatment decision completely up to her.

Look even if it's chain before the dentist works in your mouth, use your mouth to tell them what you want and don't want.
If them don't want to adhere to you request just leave that's equivalent to using your mouth to bite their hand.

I’m seeking an honest dentist who does a good job too. Just wondering: Has anyone had experiences with Premier Dental in The Villages? They sent me an email offering their services with discounts in honor of the new year. I’m quite wary of dentists in general so I’m looking for feedback. Thanks!

Marion Dental on 441 north of Buenos Aires. We have been seeing Dr. Wallace for years and are very happy. He gives us the situation and options and lets us make the decision. A lot of years go by with just twice a year cleanings.

After a disaster at Wildwood Dentistry (two of the crowns have fallen off) we found Pristine Dentistry in Leesburg and have been very happy with her.

Good luck with that!! The dental business down here is a big racket! We've never missed our dentist up north so much as we have since we moved here. We're going to Herb Bennett in Leesburg but he doesn't in our Medicare network.

Call Dr. Kevin Wallace: (352) 259-0822. He has been our Dentist for 14 years, since moving to The Villages. He and his Staff are excellent. He is very professional and very patient and caring. The practice is called the Marion Dental Group. The office is on 441.There are 5 or 6 Dentists in the Practice. So, if Dr. Wallace is not available-- you should be able to see one of the other Dentists.

Dr. Forrest Jerkins in Fruitland Park on 441. My wife and I have been with him for many years now after our other independent dentist retired. Rates are on par with others, but he does only what’s necessary.

Didn’t go to the dentist for over 10 years… When I found her, she was the only one that didn’t recommend three fillings and two crowns. She told the truth… I only needed one crown. Get outside The Villages to get your teeth done! Plus, her prices are much less… She’s amazing, gentle, honest, and caring. Everyone we have sent to her, loves her!

This strikes close to home for me. I removed my bib and left 2 dentist's chairs before landing in one that is excellent. I am adverse to x-rays - and only allow them when needed. Grand Traverse and another I cannot recall refused to clean my teeth without x-rays.

I highly recommend Main Street Dentists in Leesburg. They respect my position on x-rays and don't try to drum up business in any other way. I have been with them for 5 years now.

I had never heard of "deep cleaning" until I moved to The Villages. If a dentist in The Villages recommends a deep cleaning and refuses to do a regular cleaning, run away.

I use Dr. Chris Lunsford in Leesburg. Excellent dentist.

So true. HUGE profit center for the practice, so many dentists will try to scare you into this by telling you that you will loose you teeth unless you get SRP (deep cleaning) with scheduled follow up visits. Get a second opinion from a dentist you can trust.

Florida Blue isn't really a great option for dental plans anyway. You could switch to Delta Dental. Lifetime Dentistry accepts their POS plans (that's what I have).
