Is discussing news and weather the same as discussing politics? There was a thread about news coverage of the fires in California and the thread is already closed. The fires are still burning, so the discussion is still timely and relevant, no?

Is it because the discussion branched into a climate change discussion? And, if so, is discussion about climate change now considered political discussion?

Better yet, is my asking this question considered political?

I guess I'll know my answer based on that happens to this post. But if you cannot infer my political leanings by the content of this post, how can it be considered political?

Asking for a friend...

Tell your friend the thread was likely closed because 9 out of 10 posts were insults and as we all know, users are not allowed to direct comments toward another user.

Just out of curiosity, why didn't your friend post the question himself?

Correct, it was closed while we tried to clean it up.

It's sarcasm. Though, I read several Quora answers that indicate it could be interpreted literally. In this case, this seemed to be the best answer:

David Lenn's answer to What does 'Asking for a friend' really mean? - Quora (https://www.quora.com/What-does-Asking-for-a-friend-really-mean/answer/David-Lenn-1?ch=10&oid=131823594&share=3b74324d&srid=3N118h&target_type=answer)

Asking for a friend...

I think the first question is DOES IT MATTER? A problem in every planed community is control of what you can do. Plus or minus? Actually plus and minus. "Asking for a friend," it was not a friend and it was not the villages. A few years before WE moved to the villages someone I knew
locked horns with the architectural committee or whatever it was called. He had a tree, that was planted by him years ago. Someone reported it and he was told to remove it. He decided to fight. He was actually paying legal fees on both sides. His own legal expense and whatever part of his common charges went to this case. I never got the end of the story. The case went on for years. His atty bills were over 30,000. He got cancer and his daughter inherited the place.
WHO DID SHE SELL IT TO??????????????

Before buying in the villages I became aware of an Island off North Carolina with a house and a small herd of wild horses. Set up my own kingdom? The queen vetoed that. So that is why I am posting from the villages. Due to hurricanes that island may well be avail at an underwater special.
