Can anyone give a recommendation on a good driveway painter? How often should you seal your driveway?

100% satisfied with intro into process, help with choosing pattern, colors, on-site work staff ethic, etc.
Per my request broke down estimate for drive, walkway, garage, lanai & patio so I could pick/choose areas to be serviced. Pricing very reasonable so all was done at once. No hidden charges.
Recommended to friends/neighbors who also used their services.

We used Driveways by Jay, Homes Services Inc, 877-713-2902, had this in the drive way for over 9 years, still have one the bird cage for around 8 years, NO resealing.

John Weber's team did a nice job for us. Haven't resealed so far (3yrs).

Make sure your guys add shark grip to the paint to give better traction when wet.
We kept it simple, used colors from the home exterior and a simple boarder design.

I have never sealed my driveway. But I also have never painted it.

Our textured brick look drive had great curb appeal. However it required lots of maintenance from small areas breaking, to yearly cleaning. Last seal was $1100, which was every 2-3 years.
I agree with R123. This house will never have to be sealed because the drive will always be unadorned.

I would like to add that what are, essentially, negative comments about painting driveways simply don't make sense to make on a general basis.
There are many, many driveways here that have had to be repaired from cracking OR have had additional drive space added. In plenty of those cases, the best way to unify the appearance after that kind of work is to paint the drive. If done well, then the repairs or additions are barely noticeable.

Murphy’s Distinctive Concrete. Unique no-slip surface like no others.

Just used Hand Designs. Excellent work. They do a lot of the driveways for the model homes and a lot of our neighbors in our village have used them. I got bids and they were the same or cheaper plus they come out in 3 or 5 years and make any repairs and reseal for no charge, which nobody else does. They also make a test sample of the colors you pick to make sure you like the colors before any work is started. Big thing for me was that they don’t require any money down where others required 1/3 to 1/2 down, which kind of bothered me.

Driveways by Jay has done the driveways in both of our Villages homes. As Village Tinker said, no sealer is required on Jay's driveway treatments. He uses a concrete stain...not paint...that has built-in UV inhibitors. With Jay's process, the color is absorbed into the concrete, not just laying on top of it. Jay does not use a topcoat sealer, and advises against putting any sealer on his work after the fact. I have seen driveways he did 10+ years ago that still look as good as new. We have been very happy with his work/product.

I used 1st Choice Home Improvement. Unlike others bids, they said I didn't need to grind the old painted surface. Better price, so I went for it. It started peeling in certain areas within weeks. He came back and touched up the affected areas, but it has kept peeling since. Wished I had gone with Jay's that Tinker mentioned. Costlier, but obviously a much better outcome.
As to resealing, not sure I want to do it. I might just let it be for a while and get it all redone with Jay's which doesn't need sealing. But if you do get one that is sealed, they say to get it redone every 2-3 years.

Another vote for Amy Newsome. She did my driveway, lanai floor and patio several years ago. Have never resealed it and all still look great.

Hello. What is the ballpark cost of this staining job per sq. ft? When I closed on my home less than a month ago, the lanai concrete was painted (or something) and looks really nice. I'd like to do the same for my driveway, but I have no idea what the builder did. I also want to make sure the driveway doesn't get slippery when wet. I wouldn't want anyone slipping on my driveway. Thanks!
