A family member has recently taken a turn for the worse, and while I don't know if they'll live for six more days or six more months, either way I need to "get my ducks in a row" as the saying goes. We're not into big fancy funerals, and he's outlived nearly all of his friends & family members of a similar age, so a very basic cremation is what we want.
So far the least expensive option for a "no frills" cremation seems to be $1,100 at Baldwin Brothers, but if anyone knows of any funeral homes or crematoriums in the area that charge less than $1,000, pls let me know.
Thanks!

According to their website a basic cremation package is $1,035. There is a transportation cost of $395 up to 30 miles, but I don't know if that is included in the basic package.

$1100 IS reasonable. When you take into consideration all that goes into a cremation ( plenty of red tape and regs to follow to a T) I'm surprised it's that low!

According to this $795 is the average going rate.

Appreciate everyone's replies.
For anyone interested, I called several funeral homes / cremation service companies in the area & was quoted the following prices for a "simple" / direct cremation (meaning no urn & or additional/special services):
Neptune Society: $1,695
Death certificates: $12
Medical Examiner: $60
Baldwin Brothers: $1,095
They offer a $100 discount for anyone under hospice care, so $995 for hospice patients.
$15 per copy for each certified death certificate
$60 medical examiner fee
DFS Memorials: $1,195
$55 Medical examiner fee
$15 Administration fee
$15 per death certificate
Florida Cremation Society: $1,095
Medical Examiner fee: $60
Certified Death certificates: $10
Ocala Funeral & Cremation Care: $895
Certified Death certificates: $10 per copy
The $895 fee above includes the Medical Examiner fee
