What’s up with salon Jaylee. I was at Colony today for cut and color. They charged me 275 for hair ran my card and then girl told me it did not go through and ran my card twice. I asked to make sure it did not go through twice and she told me only once. I checked my account via phone and sure enough there were 2 charges. I spoke to manager showed him 2 bank charges and he could not fix it cause I would be getting free service I I called bank and they said it was a duplicate charge and I needed to put in a claim. I am upset alon Jaylee would do nothing to handle matter. Has anyone had this happen and how did they handle. And is there another good salon in villages

Debit or credit card ? Credit card bank should have deleted one charge; debit card bank (your.bank) will not - they really stay out of the dispute & direct you to the entity (cr card) that sent the charge.
I’d never use a debit card for a purchase; it’s similar to trying to get your bank to rip up one of your checks that already went through. It’s a finished transaction; you have to deal with the entity (cr card, etc.) that charged the amount.
I have had credit cards charge an amount I disputed & they immediately deleted/offset the charge after checking facts.
First, I’d check on WHO was credited with your second payment ? The salon, or the hairdresser ? Then I’d call the credit card bank & explain. If one payment was to the salon and the second payment was to the hairdresser, then there’s another problem.

Surprised the bank told you to file a claim. On the day of the charge, what appears on your account is an authorization for the charge. When the actual charge is submitted by the merchant, it removes the authorization with the actual charge. It has happened to me a couple of times where somewhere in between the merchant and the bank, the preauthorization request goes through but an acknowledge is not received back to the merchant machine. The merchant software then declines the charge! BUT now the bank already posted the preauthorization. The merchant, since it was rejected, reruns the charge and it accepts the second time. Now you have two preauthorizations but the merchant only has one charge to submit. If he deletes the charge, he gets NOTHING because there is only one charge and two authorizations! Anyway, to make a long story short, this is a known problem with charge card processors. This is why charge card processors delete any preauthorization that is usually more than 7 days old. So I would not get mad, the merchant has no recourse in this situation.

Small claims court. Publicity like this means they may lose in the long run. Thanks for sharing!
